This was the first museum I visited in Amsterdam. It's interesting to learn the history and it's a good combination of seeing the living quarters of a wealthy Dutch family along with the hidden church. The audio guide tour is good. Although I enjoyed the museum and it only takes about an hour to go through, I would consider skipping it if you are short on time here in Amsterdam.

Visited this brilliant museum dedicated to the brave, resilient and courageous Dutch people during the Nazi occupation in WW2.
It’s on the edge of the city, cafes and bars around for drink or food.
Allow at least 2 hours if you want to see and appreciate the true stories being shared. An audio system in various languages is provided with the ticket price, also there are books available for purchase. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Happy to recommend and should we return to Amsterdam would pay another visit.

A little off the beaten track but well worth a visit.. the windmill was short walk from the Osdorp tram stop, but we saw Chickens, Horses and Shetland Ponys on the way.
The Windmill itself was very interesting, and the lovely Olaf, gave us a great guided tour, including the history of Windmill design, their change of use, signalling, Rembrandts connection with them, why they are still needed today, and how they help to save Amsterdam from flooding.
We were also taken out onto the deck to see how they turn the sails, and witnessed a quick dash to release them from spinning too fast while a storm was approaching!
We also went up into all 5 floors, to see the crank and cogs turning the water wheel, the wheel itself, (I won’t spoil the surprise), and the top part of the roof, which turns the sails to face the wind…
They were very friendly people, and the gift shop was very reasonably priced.

Really interesting place to walk around with a fascinating history and a lovely church. It is a really lovely place to spend half an hour and find out more about Amsterdam's history.

    Highly recommend coming here!
We tried multiple stands and visited 3 times during our stay.
Great way to try lots of different foods, and great if you can't agree on a restaurant.
    We tried and recommend:
    -de ballenbar
    -dim sum thing
    -bulls and dogs
    -holy friend chicken
    -Taqueria Lima
-the crepe stand ( can't remember the name but the crepes were amazing!)

I cycle here most days. It is stunning. It spans from Amstelveen to central Amsterdam. It has forest, it has gardens, it has streams and rivers to swim in, it has a theatre, it has a horse manger, it has a goat farm, it has a boating course, it has climbing activities, it has cafes. However, in spite of so many things going on, it remains the most peaceful and tranquil place I know. I leave each time refreshed and rejuvinated ready for the day. I truly love my visits to Amsterdamse Bos.

This is a really beautiful synagogue and had a bonus of free entry to the Jewish museum and an audioguide included as part of the ticket. The guide was really interesting and included the history of the synagogue but also how the whole complex. For an insight into how the history of Jews in Amsterdam, this is definitely worth a visit.

Entry to this museum is included with an IAmsterdam card (which I highly recommend). It's a very unique museum experience, immersive, and highly informative and engaging. This is great to do when you need to get off your feet a little bit because there are several opportunities to sit down. There's also a toilet in the basement. I think the experience was an hour or less; it was a great activity to do between bigger museums/activities (and with free entry and a free restroom!). We did this on a Friday afternoon and there were only 3 of us at the museum.

Definitely worth a visit, easily reached on the fantastic tram service. Opted for the brewery tour at the weekend - less of a tour, more of a history of the brewery, but entertaining and very good value for money. Recommend the tasting flights to find your favourites - an amazing range of flavours. Great service and atmosphere - would definitely go again if we were back in Amsterdam.

No better way to spend a cold , snowy November afternoon than to visit this house. A stunning house on the outside, inside it is amazing. The audio guide is very good , explaining the significance of each room. I gained a great insight into how wealthy people lived in the 19th century, a great place to visit.

Visited Van Loon after having been at Willet-Holthuysen - as we both enjoy visiting period properties.

The house is lovely and the rooms have an interesting mix of decoration (especially the wallpaper!).

There is a lack of information about the house/rooms and items within it (in the UK there would likely be much more information about various items and the previous occupants). If you don't like reading lots of info however, you can just soak up the environs.

There is a small garden and exhibition area in a building at the back with a rather grand facade.

It's worth a visit if you like these kinds of properties, and I would recommend visiting with the I AMsterdam card so that you can maximise value by visiting other museums nearby. I probably wouldn't have paid to go in otherwise.

This park is great! We visited Amsterdam with our 7 year old son, and we saw a lot of history and culture. It was good to go to Amstelpark on a warm day and do all the little kid things. We biked to and through the park. We splashed in the big wadding pool, rode the small train through the park, tried to go to the petting zoo but it closes at 3pm (but we still saw some animals), my son played in the playgrounds, and rode on the little rides. He was so happy. (I would say 7 or 8 years old would be the oldest ages that would really enjoy this. Ideal for 3-6 year olds).

We learned so much at this museum, it is only one big room but it took us about two hours to look at everything. The staff was very nice. We had a pleasant time!

I visited the Wereldmuseum on a school trip the other week … obtained terrible museum fatigue in the process but the exhibit we saw was very informative of the masked history of the Netherlands. This has been a certain point of frustration for me during my time in Amsterdam. The complete lack of discussion of colonization and imperialism imbedded within Dutch history is seldom talked about. I appreciated the Wereldmuseum for this.

A spectacular museum, even for those who are not all too intersted in the subjct. Just admire the care and energy that has been put into it. I visited several times, since 1997, once to find out about of the many pipes that I found in the countryside around Amsterdam. The legendary MR Duco himself told me the name of the makers. Mumbling "this is a museum, so I cannot charge you for this information".
Truely priceless! I bought 2 of his books. Highly recommanded, I have consulted them over and over again.
