What travellers are saying
- Thomas VOakland, CA19,431 contributionsOne of the best parts of town to get a good look at life along the canals. Lots of beautiful canals to walk along and lots of canal houses to observe. It is an upscale neighborhood and you will find some nice cafes and places to eat.Written 3 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas VOakland, CA19,431 contributionsThis is the great big park in the middle of the city. There are some great museums near here. We saw lots of people outside on a sunny day, even thought the temperature was cold. Folks come here to bike and hike and make picnics. A great city resource.Written 4 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BobbyAmsterdam, The Netherlands5 contributionsAmazing experience. Fantastic views, great exhibitions and food. Good definitely do it again. Would give 5, but
the bathroom was shockingly disgusting.Written 13 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You will find a big cathedral here that has been converted into an expo space and you will find municipal buildings. Be prepared for crowds.Written 4 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Paul WManchester, UK153 contributionsI went to ARTIS after visiting the National Holocaust Museum, which was pretty heavy, so I wanted to chill and watch some animals, on entyry to the zoo a chimp ran above me between tree's making a racket, which was just what I needed !!!!
I went in quite late and most of the big animals were already in their houses and out of sight, like lions, Elephants, Giraffes etc, so abit disappouiting, but was a good walk around to clear my head.
White wolves were cool, Ape & Bird house were interesting.
It is quite a small zoo these days, being old and in a city centre, but animals look well looked after.
I went to this as I had the Iamsterdam card which gave free access, so worth checking out the Iamsterdam card, as I saved allot of money by using the card and tried a few things I would not have paid for, like this one, which turned out to be a highlight of my trip.Written 27 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There was fresh food, hot food, chocolate, liquorice, plenty of clothes and jewellery.Written 14 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - fenne vAmsterdam, The Netherlands17 contributionsThe museum is very fun, educative and at a great location. The museum is very interactive, which makes it very kid friendly. It's also quite educational. I would recommend it, but it is more focused on the younger kids i'd say. It's definitly still fun for the older kids but there's not as much to learn I'd say.Written 22 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pat DIreland1 contributionGuide was excellent and very informative. The windmill and the technology involved was fascinating . Can highly recommend.Written 3 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Thomas VOakland, CA19,431 contributionsThis is a square and a churchyard surrounded by historic buildings. Nice to see the typical gabled houses that are not lining a canal, so one gets a different perspective. A charming and historic district.Written 5 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MelCon21Dublin, Ireland124 contributionsDecent Madame Tussaud’s. Doesn’t take long to get around but fun and well laid out. The big window is definitely worth seeing as it gives an amazing view of the town below. Loved seeing all the waxworks of local Dutch celebrities, that’s always one of my favourite things about visiting Madame Tussaud’s around the world. Definitely recommend a visit.Written 9 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ralf KWurzburg, Germany1,738 contributionsIf you visit one of the well known museums
you should not miss to discover outside the so called Museum Plein. It worse to go there although you don’t enter a museum.Written 18 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The large ship that is available to explore on board is so interesting and fun.Written 15 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul JUnited Kingdom7 contributionsExcellent restaurant on the seventh floor of the library with stunning views of Amsterdam.
Great selection of food from pizza, burgers, salad and various other yummy delights.
Very peaceful place to relax over a coffee or eat a nice lunch with a couple of drinks.
Approximately 10 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central Station.
I'd highly recommend you seek this place out.Written 12 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Completely colourful and not overly rammed with people. There’s just so much to choose from it’s a little bit overwhelming but everyone was super friendly and it was spaced out enough that you could get a good visual of anything you wanted to buy whether it be fresh or bulbs.Written 14 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas VOakland, CA19,431 contributionsThis is one of the widest waterways in the city and one that you can take a canal boat on, or walk along. It is not the most charming, but it is very practical as a way for transport. Several big bridges.Written 24 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
