Fantastic, classical building. Well organized and easy to get around. Connects with the tram system right outside. In the heart of the city, it's a great location to start your walk around the sights of Amsterdam.
The Royal Palace Amsterdam is about a 20 minute walk from where our cruise ship docked. We were able to get in without booking tickets on line, it wasn’t crowded. Price was reasonable, 25 euros total for 2 adults. Audio guides are free in many languages, and are interesting The rooms on the tour are very well preserved. An hour is enough to see the tour.
This is a really beautiful synagogue and had a bonus of free entry to the Jewish museum and an audioguide included as part of the ticket. The guide was really interesting and included the history of the synagogue but also how the whole complex. For an insight into how the history of Jews in Amsterdam, this is definitely worth a visit.
I thought that I'd put the important bit - as that has annoyed recent reviewers - and so is inaccessible. In over 20 years of being nearby, I have only seen the sails move once - last week !
An absolutely stunning church! Very friendly staff happy to talk about the church and its history. Overall a great time walking around and looking at all the amazing architectural design and details.
Fantastic museum explaining how housing changed in Amsterdam over the last hundred years as well as an amazing example of Amsterdam School of architecture. We've already recommended visiting this place to all our friends.
if you want to find out how many apples can be stacked inside a pie, go find out there. the place is super welcoming and the fried stuff are pretty good too.
Love this old cafe bar, great atmosphere, good beer, nice food, and friendly staff. Great place to chill out and enjoy a beer or two, or three. So much history and located on a lovely square. Really enjoyed it
I come here every now and then for a concert. Having a drink in the foyer with an amazing view before a concert is not something to forget quickly. The main hall is wonderfully designed with a very modern look. If you are in Amsterdam and have the time, it is worth looking to take a quick look inside the beautiful foyer, for free, even if you do not have the time to spare for a concert🌷🌷🌷
I saw this in 1989 and again in June 2022. I saw it this time on a canal cruise. The tower was completed in 1638 and is the highest church tower in Amsterdam. It is 283 feet and is crooked.
Worth a visit out of interest for the artefacts themselves, but the layout itself relies on picking up a book containing paragraphs about each artefact, and for those who don’t speak Dutch not all artefacts have translations. Would definitely recommend visiting at the start of a trip to Amsterdam as it sheds light on the symbols that you will then see throughout the city as you go to historical / artistic sites etc
Nice working church - there was a service going on in a side chapel plus full community noticeboards. Admittedly, it was cold inside so only time for a small time for reflection.
This hotel is ENORMOUS & absolutely beautiful. The details in this hotel are truly endless and the staff here are just so pleasant to have. We were able to rent bikes from the concierge. My only issue when visiting was that I was stuck in one of there mini elevators but other than that we had an overall great experience. We had a wonderful view of the river and lovely building across the bridge. Also the bartender made some delicious drinks after a long day of biking!
One of our favourite places in Edinburgh. Centrally located on Dam Square with old school traditional charm of a members club. Lovely place to sit by fire and enjoy a cold winter day. Food as usual was excellent with club burger being a favourite. Huge portions and easily shareable between two people. Good wine choice at a very reasonable price and great service.
