It was perfect for the first departure of the day leading to a grand trip ascending.

On arrival the main attraction and most popular was the remarkable Two Lakes Bridge. Superlative vistas over the lakes and countryside are to be savoured.

Known as the Top of Swiss Tradition, Schynige Platte lived up to its nickname since I witnessed an alphorn concert here. The ascent was pretty slow, but honestly, it made me relax my mind a little since I had tight scheduling within the area. The railway had great views of the lakes and the city of Interlaken below!

At the top, I hiked a little and of course since it was October, the plants are mostly dead. While hiking I heard the sound I was looking for, the alphorn was playing! Was curious where the sound came from, and upon going down the hill, I saw this couple dragging their alphorns and I felt bad asking if they could play the alphorn just for me. They accepted it without any hesitations, and they played two songs and passersby stopped over and stayed awhile.

At the end, several people gave them tips, and so did I. They deserve it. They played it so well it gave goosebumps on me especially they played the alphorn with the Swiss Alps on the background. Nothing can get more Swiss than that!

No public transportation from Interlaken West so be prepared for a 30 minute walk...last 15 uphill.
The facility is beautiful. All products wonderfully displayed.
Wanted to try the unique red berry gin and the more classic one. Neither one really appealed to my taste.
Tried a few whiskies. Again, nothing really special. They charge 2 Swiss francs per taste, which would be almost fair if they would pour more than to just wet the bottom of the glass.
I decided to buy a whisky that I did not taste at the distillery...the 7 year aged Rock Label Swiss Wood Finished whisky. Its description was more in line with my refined taste.
After flying back home, I opened it and was rather disappointed. The nose was too soft and the taste was not as complex as 7 year old whisky should purport. What surprised me more was that there was no aftertaste.
For the money....just get the Two lake whisky. For the price, you get a nice beginner's whisky with more flavor than the much more expensive ones.

The park is Located in front of the town and main road. This is where most of the para gliders land after their long jump from the mountains. People are mostly here to picnic, people watch, exercise and just chill out. A very nice place also for photo op due to the scenic mountains and view. A must place to see in the area.

Andy and Glynn are so friendly, and their beers are delicious, especially the sours. They let us come taste some during a bottling day, and we had a blast. If you want tasty craft brews and good company, definitely check these guys out!

Interlaken is rather a lodging base town to explore its surroundings, than a sightseeing destination. It has a nice setting between the Brienzer Lake and Thun Lake.
There're two Churches to visit at this site - the Reformist Church and Roman Catholic standing one by another.
Schlosskirche is actually the Reformist Church and is older than the Catholic one next door. It also has an adjacent monastery. We were lucky being there at the Sunday morning Mass.

Not much to add - old ruined castle, irregular steps etc. There is a hard way from above or a very easy way from the road just below the castle. We came from above, near the Credo Schloss hotel, but access from the road Unspunnenstrasse is much easier, as we found out after we'd climbed up to the ruins then down. There are iron hand-rails to keep you safe, though. Worth a look, especially if you haven't seen a ruined castle before - and there are lots of them in Europe.
