We bought the Colosseum Attic ticket which gave us access to the three highest floors of the Colosseum. Absolutely amazing. Numbers are limited so you are sharing the experience with very few others at the same time. Felt special and privileged to have that part of the Colosseum practically to ourselves. Views were amazing. The ticket also gave us access to Palatine Hill and the Forum. Excellent value for money.

The Trevi Fountain is a must see in Rome really, but I'd suggest you go early in the morning to escape the crowds. I was staying nearby, went before 8am and had a much better experience than when I had passed by in the afternoon. Even by 9am the fountain is crowded.

Very busy, but still a nice place to relax and people-watch. Restaurants are, unfortunately, very touristy in this area.

The English-langauge tour led by Sara Masini was brilliant. Sara explained the works in detail that helped me not only appreciate the pieces as works of art but the wider context in which they were made. Sara was also very engaging and funny. If you have a chance to take a guided tour around this magnificent gallery - do it!

We visited the most well known basilica in Rome bright and early, so were only two of maybe a dozen people inside. It's on the way to the train station if you're walking. Very beautiful and worth a few minutes even if you're busy.

This is amazing to see but queues are long it’s a lot of uphill walking and lots of steps so not for those who are not so mobile or steady on their feet. It is included in you colosseum ticket if you book a full experience directly on their website

It is a perfect example of stratification over the centuries. It is originally the tomb of Hadrian, but now has been converted to a fortress and museum. It is fun to climb to the different levels and see the views of the city that are spectacular.

The lovely gardens and buildings in this public space make a peaceful place to find some quiet and escape the tourist crowds. Great view overlooking Piazza del Popolo.

The Roman Forum was the second part of my combined Colosseum and Forum ticket that cost €18. This also includes Palatine Hill and some other small areas. The information is all readily available on the tickets that I booked online. As far as I understood the tickets allowed for entry to the Colosseum once and then the Forum within the next 24 hours. Don't quote me on that though.

The attraction is a mix of a large open air museum and gardens. There are some buildings to enter but it is mostly outside. Take a hat and some food. There are water fountains for hydration, if you have a bottle to fill.

The prettiest areas are up on the highest levels. You climb a ramp through a large building and come out in a very pretty area of gardens and an orangery. I'd never seen an orange tree before, and you could smell the citrus in the air.

The views from up top were wonderful, offering some great views of Rome. It was a very tranquil place, despite there being quite a few people about. I found I was still able to find some areas away from quite so many people.

On the way back to the exit you can see Circus Maximus from above and there were parakeets flying about in the trees in the SE of the forum.

Sadly, I thought the queues for the forum were worse than those for the Colosseum. I entered near the Colosseum and was queueing for what felt like an hour. There are other entry points though so perhaps you don't have to queue that long.

This was definitely a breathtaking and interesting location. The history and displays made this well worth seeing. The rooftop views are unforgettable and worth the extra ticket.

Not been up these famous steps for over four decades, but they have featured so much in literary, historical, political and film contexts that it would feel perverse not to use them when in central room. Today was a warm gentle day with an easy going drift of folk in both directions.

Booked a visit for Friday morning in this noble palace still managed by the ancient Colonna family.
I couldn't imagine finding myself in such an enchanting place full of history, art and professionalism.
Our guide Erika was amazing. Always smiling, she conveyed to us her passion and knowledge of the Palace.
    Thank you Palazzo Colonna!❤️
