- JLTPDix Hills, NY257 contributionsThere aren't many golf courses near Rome, and not many reviews available on Trip Advisor or elsewhere on the Internet. Olgiata appeared to be our best overall choice though there are pluses and minuses. The course is about a half hour taxi ride from the center of Rome. While the taxi ride came to 37 euros on the way there, we were charged 80 euros for the trip back. I took the driver at her word that there was a surcharge for the trip from the outskirts to the city, but you should factor these travel costs into your equation when determining whether it's worth it. Olgiata is a private club within a gated community. They didn't seem to get many outside visitors, but were accepting of us nonetheless. Our hotel concierge advised that advance tee times weren't taken and that we should just go whenever we wanted to. Not a bad idea to check ahead, though. We rented clubs, which weren't great. (I don't recall the exact cost, but it seemed to be about what I was expecting. And I did get to blame the clubs for my poor round.). The course itself was in reasonably good condition and the cost was 100 euros per person for the greens fee. Electric riding carts were extra. It was a fairly difficult layout with a lot of sand and water, and fast greens. Sprinklers did not have yardage markings but there were 100 and 150 markers (meters, not yards). All in all, I was pleased with the overall experience. After all, I was able to play golf in Italy!Written 11 April 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Sam11 contributionsGot the train to the course from central Rome which was around 40 minutes. Google maps takes you the long way round to get there from Muratella station but it is way shorter and around 20 minutes if you walk under a bridge (which is perfectly fine to do).
Paid to hire a half bag and got a full bag as well as a trolley free of charge. Did have to buy balls and tees from the shop as well however.
Condition of the course is good, fairways, rough and green all very nice. Bunkers are quite hard with no much sand however.
Quite pricey, but very friendly staff and easy to book online (hired clubs and all when we got there). Very nice relaxed vibe.Written 20 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Narrow fairways and small greens and some great doglegs! Very attractive is the view of the remains of a roman acquaduct running along hole # 10. Few greens showed bare spots, but it did not detract from true ball rolling. The club house is very cosy and the restaurant was quite good. The view of the roman hills from some of the holes and from the club house is awesome! Price/quality ratio is excellent. Very close to Ciampino airport, if you are visiting Rome and are a golfer, this is a place not to miss!Written 16 October 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dolly CRegion of Waterloo, Canada7 contributionsWe quickly learned tourists are not welcomed nor respected. Closer to an intolerance. There were too many examples including a 'cover charge' added to your bill just to eat at a restaurant, not enough English understanding or communicating, transportation was hard to maneuver and understand as tourists, fined for not having a 'bus ticket' with unreasonable expectations tourists know the steps required just to get one so overall, rude. Will never go again. Was extremely unfortunate.Written 1 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
