We had a fantastic time visiting the Colosseum today. We did a guided tour, which gave us so much more information than I think you would get if you were just walking around on your own it was very accessible with stairs and also lifts for those that have mobility challenges. I love the history and you can almost feel it as you walk around.

Was told these Greek ruins are better than what you see in Greece due to not having the acid rains due to pollution. Spectacular.

I’d never been to this area of the Roman forum before and it is really outstanding. You can see all of the ruins from here and there is a lovely garden with oranges near by that is very quaint.

This was a great visit with an informative guide. This visit is not too long but we were given so much information in that time. It was a great experience. It was easy to travel to the site using pubilic transport and the instructions on the website.

The remains here are very impressive. The location is also peaceful, away from the crowds at the Coliseum & Forum. In its day though the complex reportedly had the capacity for 1,600 bathers. Only downside, as others have said, is the lack of available information. Yes, there are some explanatory noticeboards, but no guidebook, audio guide, etc.

A fascinating underground tour of what was once part of Nero's vast and lavish palace. The English guide was very good. In December, the site was only open Fridays & weekends, prebooking is essential. If possible book direct online, not through travel agencies who charge double for the same tour. A new section has just been opened to the public, the frescoes here though are yet to be restored.

The Stadium of Domitian is a hidden gem in the heart of Rome. This archaeological site offers a fascinating glimpse into the ancient Roman world, right beneath Piazza Navona. The informative displays and detailed descriptions bring the history to life, making it easy to imagine the grandeur of the original stadium. It's a perfect spot for history enthusiasts, and a quiet escape from the bustling city above. Highly recommended for anyone looking to dive deeper into Rome's rich past!

A Roman multi-storey shopping mall or administrative offices, or both, no-one seems to know for certain. Either way it is an incredibly impressive building. I visited in the evening, when it was dark and illuminated enhancing the effect. More information would be nice, I was unable to find a guidebook (other reviewers have mentioned an audioguide but I was not offered one when I visited). Only onsite refreshment is some vending machines, which require cash. Well worth the visit though.

Even though theres just a few ruins left, it's still interesting for a look. I could imagine what it used to look like, and you do get a feel for what used to go on here.

As you stroll along the Via dei Fori Imperiali, you are able to see the ruins of the Imperial Forums. These can all be seen for free. As Rome grew beyond the original Forum, emperors would build their own forum with each of these forums having their own government, religious and commercial buildings. The Forum of Augustus was completed in 2 BC and built by Augustus Caesar otherwise known as Octavian. The highlight of the forum in the ruins of the Temple of Mars which can be identified by the structure with the four Corinthian columns.

Collection of ancient Roman ruins preserved in the middle of a busy downtown area. Apparently, the area was planned for demolition in the early 1900s but was halted when the head and arms of a large marble statue was found. It became apparent that the area was of high historical significance. While the city was developed around it, the excavated site has remained preserved since then. The most significant ruin may be that of the Curia of Pompey where it is believed that Julius Caesar was murdered. I like many others happily strolled past this site taking a few photos not knowing the significance of the area until I later read up on it. In a city with so much history on display, it is somewhat understandable. Of note the area is known for being a popular cat shelter.

Outstanding little gem - easy to miss but well worth going to. Very good value - can combine ticket with other museums too for only €12!
Amazing array of statues, monuments and other Roman artefacts. Just kept going - room after room after room of amazing things to see!
    Would strongly recommend!
Very close to the metro/bus terminal.

This was a very interesting and meaningful place. We went as part of a golf cart tour we booked through Trip Advisor. Not to be morbid, but it was rather disappointing that there weren’t actually any bones on display.

Well worth a visit. The park is a 10/15 minute walk from Subaugusta station on Line A of the Rome Metro. You can see both the medieval & Roman aqueducts, the Roman one is very impressive. The park is free to enter & is a large country park used by local people for recreation, & is open 24/7.

This is a small island in the river Tiber. In the island, there is Basilica di San Bartolomeo all'Isola, that houses the tomb of S. Bartholomew. The church was closed for the summer break when I visited. The island is a nice and peaceful place with cool river breeze.
