We waited in a queue to be able to buy a ticket but it went quickly. We purchased our ticket and waited in a short queue to enter the building. Unfortunately we bought the audio tour feature and took off on our own. We were able to view many of the master, Goya, Rubens, Picasso, Velasquez, etc. but much of the time was spent wandering aimlessly. The museum is huge and I do not believe you can see it in one day. We will return but we will take a guided tour.

We spent an enjoyable couple of hours touring the palace, learning about its history and architecture. We booked in advance and were so glad we did. Those who hadn’t faced a long wait, and this was January! We did the audio tour and would also recommend that option.

It’s been on my bucket list to visit the stadium. Very interesting history. Good tour.

You can either book tickets online or you scan the QR code at the entrance to pay your tickets.

Great place to visit for delicious tapas, wine, beer, spirits and desserts! A must in Madrid. I went multiple days as I enjoyed so much.

Floor 0, Carmen's collection, is mostly impressionists and is brilliantly documented. Every item has a QR code to learn more than you might need to know, and hi-res image to download. Floor 2, old masters, is ok but there are only so many pictures of Venice canals that I can take, I personally would miss that unless I was very keen. Floor 1, modernist art, is the most eclectic and wonderful. I saw two pieces by Georgia O'Keefe that took my breath away. Could have stayed for hours but floor 2 had worn my feet out.

Loses a star for having such limited dining available, only one small cafe for a great giant of a museum.

Absolutely worth the visit and much more fun than the Reina Sofia Museum.

One of the famous art museums in the world. Well worth the price of admission. Saw so many famous artists. Nice to go in October so that it was not too crowded. During the week was best, and we decided not to go during free time as the line up when we got out would have taken an hour to get in.
Saw many of the greats of Spanish art including Guernica by Picasso, Salvadore Dali, Juan Gris and more

Small but beautiful museum which should not be missed when in Madrid. Set in the artist's exquisite villa you can learn about him and see many of his works.

One of the best museums in all of Spain and often overlooked by visitors. An amazing collection of artifacts that represent Spanish history through many eras. Really a must visit especially if you are interested in history and archeology. The building itself is beautiful too (and recently restored).

My wife and I visited in April during Holy Week and waited probably one hour to get in.

What struck me is recently when I went back through all of my travel photos, I didn’t realize I had taken over three dozen photos in the museum and how stunningly gorgeous the rooms (and photos) were.

Incredible artwork, including Greco. Gorgeous tapestries and frescos on the walls and ceilings. Extensive collections from armor to books to pottery.
The entrance was magnificent with the marble staircases, artwork and chandeliers. The dining room, pool room, library, bedrooms and ball room all made for outstanding photos.

So understand this museum is not for all and certain friends I would advise to hit a tapas bar instead. However, some will really enjoy this former mansion and relish that the crowd inside is limited contributing to a very pleasant visit.

Our family of five arrived at Puerta de Atocha during the first week of January 2024. The service was wonderful, and the staff were attentive and helpful. However, we encountered some challenges in finding a suitable driver with a large van to accommodate our extensive luggage and the number of people in our party. This process was time-consuming and required significant effort.

Recommendation: Tourists with larger parties and substantial luggage should definitely do some research and make arrangements in advance to ensure a smoother experience at this location.

This Basilica was forms part of the convent of Jesús y Maria of the Franciscan order. The convent was founded in the 13th century.Designed in Neoclassic style, it was built in the second part of the 18th century. It contains many fabulous paintings representing Spanish school of the 17th-19th centuries, including Zurbaran and Goya. The dome is 33 meters (108 ft) in diameter and considered the fourth biggest dome in Europe. Absolutely fantastic place to visit!

While nowhere as grand, ornate, or historical as cathedrals in other Spanish cities, this cathedral is still pretty and worth a stop if you have some time and in the area of the Palacio Real. The exterior was a bit unassuming, but the interior was quite pretty. The entrance to the cathedral is on the east side of the building. There is no entrance fee, but a EUR 1 donation is suggested upon entering. As you enter, there is an unmarked brown door to your right where toilets can be found. The gift shop is outside the entrance and was reasonably stocked despite its small size.

This is a HUGE store! The variety is amazing as well as the prices but be prepared to spend quite awhile here and maybe even get lost here!
