I LOVED going to the Real Madrid Game. This stadium was AMAZING. One of the highlights for me in Madrid. The stadium was clean and comfortable.

Stroll the gran via, shop, and take in the beauty of modern Spain. It is a fun way to walk off all the tapas and caña you will have been eating and drinking.

Just a large Plaza with some nice architecture surrounded by cafes and shops. Close to the food market. Usual sellers selling things on tarps before the police come they swoop their bags in a walk off.

The Temple is beautiful and so is the scenery around. Best moment to visit is right before sunset, really amazing experience. It is free to visit BUT you need a ticket that nobody explains you how to get. When you get there you find a notice that you need reservation. You scan it and you find a ticket in 4-5 days...maybe...The guards are really strange and moody, they kept whistling at every kid that even touched the bord of the fountain while they allowed others (long after visiting hours) to go touch the gates, take photos on the stones. On their whim.

This is one of the main squares in Madrid and full of activity. It is encircled with an array of shops and always hosting some protest or another. It is also where the famous bear statue is and a hot spot for New Year's Eve.

Plaza de Cibeles is a very attractive, but busy, place. The central feature is the grand Cibeles Fountain, but the plaza is also flanked by the fabulously ornate Banco de Espana building. The plaza is where city celebrations commonly are held.

    Bullfighting in Madrid

I recently on my travel to Madrid visited the Las Ventas to watch Bull fighting.

Where : Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, Madrid

How do you reach : Take the Metro to Ventas and once you come out of the station will see the arena

Event and Tickets : As I understood, the event happens on specific days, guess on Sundays only and towards the evening. Tickets are sold out in advance so book online. I was a bit lucky, although it was a full house , outside the arena I person sold me 2 tickets for 50 euros each , original price being about 44 euros...not a bad deal. Also ticket prices vary basis your seat

Seating: Once you enter the arena, pretty well marked is the gate you have to approach and there are guides who show you your seat. Please note you are sitting on concrete and rent cushion for about 2-3 euros from within the arena.

Experience: A packed house of people, electrifying atmosphere - looking at the age group seems it's so much part of the culture. The event i witnessed had 4 -5 fights, and to be honest the initial 1-2, I was excited as it was my first visit but then on it starts getting boring as it's the same thing being repeated again and again and again. but for sure if in Madrid a check mark activity one should do in a lifetime.

My wife and I visited in April during Holy Week and waited probably one hour to get in.

What struck me is recently when I went back through all of my travel photos, I didn’t realize I had taken over three dozen photos in the museum and how stunningly gorgeous the rooms (and photos) were.

Incredible artwork, including Greco. Gorgeous tapestries and frescos on the walls and ceilings. Extensive collections from armor to books to pottery.
The entrance was magnificent with the marble staircases, artwork and chandeliers. The dining room, pool room, library, bedrooms and ball room all made for outstanding photos.

So understand this museum is not for all and certain friends I would advise to hit a tapas bar instead. However, some will really enjoy this former mansion and relish that the crowd inside is limited contributing to a very pleasant visit.

Palacio De Cristal or Glass palace is located at El Retiro Park a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It was originally built in 1887 as a greenhouse as part of an exhibition on the Philippines.

It is now used all year round as a venue for hosting temporary exhibitions.

It was modelled on Joseph Paxton’s Crystal Palace which had been erected in Hyde Park (London) back in 1851.

Whilst in this pretty park its worth visiting this unique building.

We stayed for 20 nights at an Airbnb located at Calle General DĂaz Porlier in barrio Salamanca.
In this barrio you find everything from a popular market like Mercado de La Paz to chic boutiques in Serrano and Velasquez. You have great restaurants all over the area and many 4 & 5 stars hotels .

Our family of five arrived at Puerta de Atocha during the first week of January 2024. The service was wonderful, and the staff were attentive and helpful. However, we encountered some challenges in finding a suitable driver with a large van to accommodate our extensive luggage and the number of people in our party. This process was time-consuming and required significant effort.

Recommendation: Tourists with larger parties and substantial luggage should definitely do some research and make arrangements in advance to ensure a smoother experience at this location.

We went to go to the restaurant and see the views, but they were doing renovation on the bar? Side of the floor and brought it over to the restaurant side which made the restaurant an interior space with literally no view, on top of which it was a small, dingy drab space. Not an attractive proposition. We thought of going to the bar, but they charged 10 euros for 1 drink as a cover. Since my wife doesn’t drink and we wanted a meal with a view, that made no sense. Instead we went up to the sixth floor viewing area, which was excellent. It gave a panoramic view and had information about all the buildings that you were looking at. It seems to be a good place to start your visit to Madrid to give you a quick orientation of what is in the city and where it is. I wish I had seen this the first time we visited instead of the fourth. We also could have gone to the Gaudi exhibition they had running, which sounded very good, but having seen most of Gaudi’s works and seen amy exhibits on him, as well as having bought yet another book about him, we decided to spend on our limited time elsewhere. This turned to be a wise decision as we went to the world class archaeological museum, which I added to the trip originally because we were going for five days here, but my wife wasn’t feeling well for two of them and considered excising from the itinerary altogether. Since it was close to Cibeles, we decided to make a beeline and see what we could the last two hours it was open as it is free on Sundays at that time. Superlative Roman mosaics, a nice Egyptian collection, excellent Greek vases and more are among the gems on display. Every trip has its surprises and this was one of them.

While nowhere as grand, ornate, or historical as cathedrals in other Spanish cities, this cathedral is still pretty and worth a stop if you have some time and in the area of the Palacio Real. The exterior was a bit unassuming, but the interior was quite pretty. The entrance to the cathedral is on the east side of the building. There is no entrance fee, but a EUR 1 donation is suggested upon entering. As you enter, there is an unmarked brown door to your right where toilets can be found. The gift shop is outside the entrance and was reasonably stocked despite its small size.
