My children are 11 & 14 and they picked up the Segway quicker than I did, lol. My kids had a blast. We were resolute in our desire to do the tour and under the expert instruction of Miguel we set off for the best two hours of our trip to Madrid. Miguel was an excellent guide with a great sense of humour and a focus on our safety. We travelled through the town to Casa Del Campo and whizzed through the forest to the civil war gun emplacement. After that we returned to the city for an educational tour of some intimate parts of the old city, we even bought some nun biscuits! Although none of us had ridden a Segway before, Alen expertly coached us on how to get on, steer, drive, and get off during the initial 20 minutes of the tour. With this instruction, we found the Segways to be intuitive, safe, and fun to ride. For the rest of the 2-hour tour, Alen took us to the Grand Palace, Opera House, Oeste Park, and other sites. Alen provided the perfect blend of commentary at each stop, enough to provide some history and interesting facts but not too much to overwhelm our teenagers' short attention spans.
