- Emma O1 contributionJuan cafes. Very nice drinks and environment. Nice event with nice people. Get to speak many languages. Funny guy. - Shariann LSomerville, Massachusetts, United States103 contributionsTrue flamenco by expert artists. I have studied flamenco for five years and I was utterly floored by this performance. No frills--no fancy costumes or staging, just absolute pure flamenco the way it was meant to be. And each musician had a highlighted solo as well as the stunning dancing. Go early to get your drink in the charming bar, then down in the cellar where you are so very close to the performers. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. When I am in Madrid agin I will return!Written 5 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RtmSouthampton, UK29 contributionsWe had a fantastic time at Cardamomo, the show was incredible and the service was fantastic from start to finish.
The bar was really lovely and cosy, we had a great view from our seats. We also loved the tablets giving a brief explanation of the acts and their performances. It also had a menu on it and the staff were attentive during the show, coming around to take orders.
It was our first experience watching Flamenco and we were amazed by the show. We can't wait to go back!Written 16 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Had heard of this microteatro and went on our layover in Madrid. We purchased 3 plays and were all amazing!
Will definitely be back!
All the actors were very talented and in “Juguetes Perdidos” had the audience interact
It was all very entertaining.Written 1 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you want a friendly place that’s welcoming to tourists - move along.
This is an old, somewhat infamous, local haunt to get your copa de Jerez and some nibbles. For that, it is excellent.
Pick your style, that’s it - poured from the casks along the wall. Pick from a few nibbles as well, sit down, and just enjoy. (Keep your camera in your pocket, as they insist.). Just a wonderful vibe, and the traditional snacks are excellent.
The achoa are to die for, by the way.
As a Sherry lover, I sought this place out specifically for that, and the two of us could have spent much longer sitting in there sipping away.
And yes - excellent Sherries.Written 15 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amai T26 contributionsGreat portions!
For the budget people who wants to pay only for the drink, and enjoy the FREE TAPAS! (As it used to be back in the years when "tapas" concept was invented by one of the kings, which actually made a law for all the wine places to serve some side food "tapas" to whoever drunk wine, for a halthier drinking!).
I was actually amazed by the portion of the free "tapas-side dish". And the drink is average price, 3.5 euros for the small beer (like the one in the table next to me!), 5.50 euros for my portion 😃👌
To be in downtown area, it is not a touristic price, but more for locals that pay a little extra for the food. Really good for value!
Just keep in mind that you may repeat tapas dishes... but for me it was ok, this plate was my whole meal!
And... quality is ok, just a quick and go style, don't expect gourmet food 😉Written 16 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. His sign announces "welcome to the 80´s" and another sign on the door clarifies that you will not listen to reggaeton or commercial music. It is very well attended, prices are reasonable. - NewportbeachhouseSydney, Australia45 contributionsThe cocktails at this joint are unique - jalipino liquor - laphroige and ginger - you will not find another bar like this in Madrid - it gets busy so get there early or bookWritten 21 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Denise CColchester, UK15 contributionsWhat a fun place to go. You need a password to get in (check instagram) and you’re then taken into a 1920’s prohibition bar. - kevinmarvelleChevy Chase, MD77 contributionsWe were hoping to hear some acoustic jazz and checked out the schedule for Cafe Central.. a group calling themselves Flamenco Jazz Trio was to play.. we reserved seats and witnessed a couple of sets of wonderful acoustic jazz. the room is a nice size but seating is tight - the room has some mirrors and they help.. skip the food and pass on the Sangria.Written 5 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brian D.Connecticut13 contributionsWe thoroughly dug Madrid’s La Coquette Blues Bar, a subterranean space with a lively crowd, cold drinks and a plugged in Chicago-style blues band. They feature an ever-changing roster of bands; you can see who’s playing on their web site. The doors open at 8 pm, and it’s a small place, so we showed up at 7:30 or so and stood in a short line outside. The line soon got longer behind us. Once inside, we found ourselves in a cavern-like underground space with rough stone walls, vintage blues show posters and a terrific Chicago blues soundtrack. A friendly waiter was taking drink orders, and everybody gets a bowl of sunflower seeds in the shell. It got crowded, but not uncomfortably so, as they limit admission; they let a couple new people in when some leaves. The band came on at 9 — a fun Chicago-style blues band with guitar, standup bass, drums and a female singer — and we stayed for most of the second set as well. The crowd was really upbeat and friendly, and we were offered free shots with our beers. All in all, had a great time and would recommend this spot for a fun evening out.Written 2 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - James CPhiladelphia, PA24 contributionsA timeless setting with locals who all seem to know each other and the bartenders already know their drink of choice. But don't ask for a martini or a manhattan. No cocktails. Mixed drinks only. And beer. The traditionally clad bartenders will serve you masterfully and generously. In the back, the main scene is around the piano. Where you will be entertained by amazing piano music and everyone joining in on the fun. A queue forms around 10:30 to gain entry, so try and show up a bit earlier. Saves you an entry fee, too.Written 4 March 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dexter S1 contributionDrinks are fine, views are cool, but very over priced. Pretty sure they take advantage of tourists. We were told after we had ordered our drinks we couldn’t use our free drink tickets on the terrace. So went 2 levels down to the same bar where they made our drinks for the terrace and were able to redeem them there… makes literally no sense. On top of paying 20€ a person just to enter they want you to spend more money. Definitely will not come back.Written 27 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
