Visiting the Basílica de la Sagrada Família with my family in autumn was an absolutely awe-inspiring experience. From the moment we approached the basilica, we were taken aback by its sheer size and intricate details, which seemed even more striking with the autumn sunlight illuminating the towering spires and ornate facades.

The interior was just as breathtaking. As we stepped inside, the stained glass windows cast beautiful, colorful light across the space, making the whole area feel alive with vibrant hues. The tall columns and vaulted ceilings gave the impression of being inside a forest, with everything designed to mimic natural forms. We found ourselves constantly stopping to admire the unique architecture—Gaudí's vision truly shines through in every corner of the basilica.

The audio guide was incredibly informative, helping us understand the story behind the design, the history of the basilica, and the significance of the various details. It really made the visit come alive for the entire family, especially the kids, who were fascinated by the symbolism of the different sculptures and elements.

One of the most memorable moments was ascending to the tower. The view of Barcelona from up there was magnificent, with the autumn colors of the city and surrounding areas stretching as far as the eye could see. It was a peaceful and unforgettable experience.

The autumn weather was perfect for exploring the outside of the basilica too, where we marveled at the facades, each telling a different part of the biblical story. It was incredible to think about how much more there is still to be completed, but even as a work in progress, the Sagrada Família is truly a masterpiece.

All in all, visiting Sagrada Família in autumn was an experience we won’t forget. The combination of Gaudí’s visionary architecture, the beauty of the autumn season, and the rich history of the basilica made it one of the highlights of our trip.

Visiting Casa Batlló with my family was an unforgettable experience that transported us into the artistic brilliance of Antoni Gaudí. Located in the heart of Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona, this architectural masterpiece is more than just a building—it’s a dreamlike journey through colors, curves, and creativity.

    Arrival & First Impressions
From the moment we arrived, the unique façade of Casa Batlló caught our attention. Its wavy lines, colorful mosaics, and dragon-like roof made it feel like something out of a fairytale. The queue was well-organized, and the pre-booked tickets helped us avoid long waiting times. The staff was friendly and provided smart guides (Augmented Reality tablets), which kept both adults and kids engaged.

    Exploring the Interior
The moment we stepped inside, we were amazed by the organic shapes, stained glass windows, and wooden doors that seemed alive with movement. The main hall had a ceiling that swirled like an ocean wave, and the staircase resembled a spine, adding to the underwater theme of the house.

The Noble Floor: The former residence of the Batlló family, with its breathtaking large windows overlooking Passeig de Gràcia. The natural light and sea-inspired details made this room a favorite for photos.

The Light Well: A central courtyard covered in blue ceramic tiles that change in shade as they go higher. This gave us a magical sense of depth and tranquility.

The Attic: White, ribbed archways that looked like the inside of a whale’s ribcage. It was both eerie and beautiful.

The Roof Terrace: This was the highlight of our visit! The dragon’s back-shaped roof with colorful scales and the chimneys with twisted shapes made us feel like we were in a surreal world.

    Family-Friendly Aspects
Casa Batlló is a great place for families. The interactive audio guide with augmented reality animations kept the kids entertained, and the playful architecture sparked their imagination. The stairs and narrow pathways might be tricky for very young children or strollers, but there was an elevator available.

    Final Thoughts
Our visit to Casa Batlló was nothing short of magical. It’s a must-see in Barcelona, whether you love architecture, history, or simply want to experience something extraordinary. The attention to detail, artistic vision, and immersive experience make it one of Gaudí’s finest works. If you’re traveling with family, be prepared to take many photos, enjoy an artistic adventure, and leave with lasting memories!

    Would I visit again? Absolutely!

A very interesting park. Lovely to walk through all the areas. Do not think you need a guided tour but you need to read up before you go to help you appreciate this creation. You have a beautiful panoramic view of the city.

Since this was the first stop on our tour (WithLocals - Sagrada Familia and Casa Mila Tour: Light, Color & Architecture with Pili, which was excellent, by the way), we did not include a visit to the interior. Having said that, the house itself is impressive from the outside. Since you’ll be in the area for Botllo, it is worth taking some time to admire “The Stone Quarry."

Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar is a huge building. It was built around the 14th century. The architecture is typical of this sort of church. It looks quite majestic in some ways. It is quite stunning.

We took the metro to Passeig de Gracia, it was very easy to navigate! We spent the day shopping and exploring the city. Some of the luxury store had lines to enter their stores, and some you just walked in. Overall we had a great time in the city.

A truely interesting visit to Gaudi’s first project.

Well preserved and with the easy audio guide on your phone, you can select which rooms to see when and hear what.

Further it does not seem overcrowded so space to walk around and enjoy the experience

The Magic Fountain is indeed pure magic, when it works! We were lucky enough to see it in its full glory and were absolutely thrilled. The volume of water is astounding and the music and whole performance is so exhilarating.

We had a lovely time here but it is VERY crowded. You get a timed entrance ticket but it didn't seem to matter. We had to wait 30 minutes to enter the museum. But, the store was fantastic as wad the VR experience and the robokeeper. Worth a visit, but just be prepared for lines and a lot of crowds. Give yourself 2+ hours here.

So much to see and experience as one wanders along Las Ramblas. Many stalls selling everything one can imagine. Must be aware of hustlers! Much construction happening making the walk a little hazardous.

Barcelona Cathedral is a beautiful structure. We visited a couple of times and were astounded by the amazing architecture. It was built over a long period of time, beginning in the 13th century. It is located in a central spot and the area around it is busy with a wide range of shops. Also a variety of performances take place in front of the Cathedral by various groups which keep the large crowds entertained.
