What travellers are saying
- LizLondon, UK109 contributionsWonderful views over Barcelons from the gardens, otherwise it is good for strolling on a breezy hillside to escape the heat, and to admire mediterranean plants from Australia, South Africa and California as well as Europe.Written 12 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wondereyesBucharest, Romania2,584 contributionsVery nice garden, free of charge. We discover it coming down from the top of Montjuic and the fortress. The garden was very quiet, full of cactus and palm trees. Pity it was not the season to see cactus in flower.Written 19 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jeroen BEibergen, The Netherlands489 contributionsPark de Cervantes is a medium size park in the city. Wonderful park to relax (it really quiet and not overcrowded), sit down on a bench under the pergola or shade of the trees and let zen come to you. The park has plants shrubberies surrounded by green hedges, trees, bushes, plants and lots of different roses. It's delighting for your eyes as well as for your noseWritten 2 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steve_of_N21London, UK3,646 contributionsWe had completed a visit to the Joan Miro foundation and were contemplating taking a look at the building that houses the Museum of National Art and thinking of hopping back on the tourist bus when we realised you could cut out the road connection by walking through these gardens and I am very glad we did. The garden is made up of terraces, paths, small squares, small ponds and abundant vegetation. Some exposed brick pergolas and stone and while pillars shade the flatter areas. There are quite a few steps here as the garden is obviously built on a hill, but it is well worth strolling through, especially if you enter at the top and stroll down hill to the back entrance leading towards the Museum of National Art.Written 3 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - macedonboyGlasgow, UK1,86,189 contributionsOne of the quieter, huge and most impressive set of Gardens in Barcelona. The waterfall fountain that flows down towards Avenue Montanyans is simply stunning. The Palace Albéniz is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family during their stay in Catalonia. Sadly it's not open to the general public except on I think one day a year.

- robgarrettcuratorGdynia, Poland327 contributionsThis is a lovely little urban oasis! It is the site of the historic Medieval Hospital de la Santa Creu de Barcelona, a tapas bar, La Capella Museum, a large civic library founded in 1807, and in the northern end of the courtyard, the most beautiful old grove of Orange trees (ripe oranges were literally falling from the trees as I walked through here). Worth exploring.Written 29 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CFEIIICenter, TX5,807 contributionsNot exactly the prettiest park I have seen in Barcelona, but this one is kind of neat, good place to place some basketball, or see the Torre de les Aigues. I kind of stumbled thru the park to get a view of the tower!Written 29 December 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bigvicSydneySydney, Australia3,647 contributionsYou come up to this park normally by accident on your way elsewhere. Well that’s what we did. So stopping here and enjoying the peace and quiet was just wonderful. RecommendedWritten 29 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - macedonboyGlasgow, UK1,86,189 contributionsThis botanical garden was created for the Barcelona International Exhibition of 1929, but closed for decades after a new botanical gardens was created for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. So now it's called the Historical (or Old) Botanical Gardens.
The gardens is adjacent to Jardins de Joan Maragall, between the MNAC and Olympic stadium, so if you're bloody minded like me and and choose to walk from the former to the latter, then you'll likely pass Jardi Botanic Historic. Which I did and completely by accident. I'm glad I did because this is such a charming set of gardens with many beautiful flowers and many walkways made to look like a walk through a forest.
Inside the botanical gardens is also a Masia Catalonia, or typical Catalan farmhouse with exhibitions on rural life in the region. Just in front of the Masia Catalonia is a "Sensory Garden" with intended to stimulate the senses through either touch or smell. There's even a fountain dispensing drinking water.
A charming garden, a hidden gem and totally free.Written 29 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
