For those seeking a local, more spacious and less touristy market then this could be one for your visit.

We came on a weekday around noon and it was very quiet inside. Individual counters were selling fresh seafood, meats, and fruits and vegetables. There was a coffee and pastry shop in the front and a place in the back selling local dishes by the kilogram.

We ended up picking up some iberico jamon and salchichon sausage that we snacked on along with a fresh baguette and fruit we also purchased.

Another reason to check out the market is the unique wavy roof above. Colorful tiles on the outside and wooden inside added to the distinctiveness.

This mercat is definitely less touristy compared to Mercat de la Boqueria. Customers are mostly locals. There are a few sit-down restaurants. Tried Pinotxo Bar…food is good & quick. Also bought fruits from Giro store. Not a bad choice to

This covered municipal market serves this local area. You won't find a lot of tourists here, but you will find a lot of food to buy. Nice displays. Some market cafes surround it.

This is not a huge market but it has a good selection of meats, fish, vegetables, charcuterie, etc. And unlike many of the larger markets in the center of Barcelona this one doesn't cater to tourists, most of the shoppers are locals. There is even a wine stand that sells wine directly from the barrels.

Products tend to be fresh and of good quality and prices average for the area. The floor below the market holds Mercadona, a very large supermarket with everything one may need.

Try to have lunch at one of the several dinning areas, many of which are an extension of the merchant's stands, they have only a few tables, or in some cases you can eat at the counter. We had a great menu del dia at MB's in a corner of the market, attached to a butcher's shop with about 8 small tables. Good food, well prepared, three plates and a drink for 16.50 euros. The service was excellent, friendly and on top of everything, they actually cared that you enjoyed your meal.

Another local market with a fresh flower section that is open 365 days! Not worth the bother of putting them away. Good feel to the market in a pretty structure with colored tiles on the roof. Mainly food products on sale.

Mercat de la Llibertat is an excellent place to get some lovely fresh food at local prices. It is clean and offers a wide range of fresh produce and other products. You can buy to take away or you can sit in and enjoy a meal inside. The atmosphere is really pleasant. The service professional and friendly. The Market was built back in the late 19th century and was "recently" renovated, in 2009. It's worth a visit if you happen to be in the area.

If you are taking a stroll down La Rambla street you should not miss this food market. There are many different vendors to let you experience many foods you might not normally try. An authentic Barcelona experience. Also be aware of pickpockets there are many in the city.

A good indoor food market with a small but excellent cafe inside. Fish, meat, vegetables, olives, cheese and much more. Great atmosphere, great coffee and tapas at the cafe. Some ladies clothing stalls outside the building.

Located within one of the smallest squares of Barcelona, is this lovely artisan market, off an array of locally made products, (such as cheeses, honey, chocolate etc) it was nice to walk amongst the stalls, enjoy the vibe and atmosphere of square.
