What travellers are saying
- Adrian RBrumunddal, Norway66 contributionsInsane amount of people coming here. You can eat well various types of food. It's not cheap here but food looks and feels fresh.Written 7 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheLeongOhanaUnited States7,870 contributionsFor those seeking a local, more spacious and less touristy market then this could be one for your visit.
We came on a weekday around noon and it was very quiet inside. Individual counters were selling fresh seafood, meats, and fruits and vegetables. There was a coffee and pastry shop in the front and a place in the back selling local dishes by the kilogram.
We ended up picking up some iberico jamon and salchichon sausage that we snacked on along with a fresh baguette and fruit we also purchased.
Another reason to check out the market is the unique wavy roof above. Colorful tiles on the outside and wooden inside added to the distinctiveness.Written 23 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are a few sit-down restaurants. Tried Pinotxo Bar…food is good & quick. Also bought fruits from Giro store. Not a bad choice to

- Ms_R33480Palm Beach, FL746 contributionsThis is not a huge market but it has a good selection of meats, fish, vegetables, charcuterie, etc. And unlike many of the larger markets in the center of Barcelona this one doesn't cater to tourists, most of the shoppers are locals. There is even a wine stand that sells wine directly from the barrels.
Products tend to be fresh and of good quality and prices average for the area. The floor below the market holds Mercadona, a very large supermarket with everything one may need.
Try to have lunch at one of the several dinning areas, many of which are an extension of the merchant's stands, they have only a few tables, or in some cases you can eat at the counter. We had a great menu del dia at MB's in a corner of the market, attached to a butcher's shop with about 8 small tables. Good food, well prepared, three plates and a drink for 16.50 euros. The service was excellent, friendly and on top of everything, they actually cared that you enjoyed your meal.Written 3 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Good feel to the market in a pretty structure with colored tiles on the roof. Mainly food products on sale.Written 9 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Dimitris LSydney, Australia54,475 contributionsMercat de la Llibertat is an excellent place to get some lovely fresh food at local prices. It is clean and offers a wide range of fresh produce and other products. You can buy to take away or you can sit in and enjoy a meal inside. The atmosphere is really pleasant. The service professional and friendly. The Market was built back in the late 19th century and was "recently" renovated, in 2009. It's worth a visit if you happen to be in the area.Written 21 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
