- JMGenevaGeneva, Switzerland1,997 contributionsWonderful and breathtaking views on the north of the Island. The restaurant made by Manrique is superb as well. Certainly worth the detour.Written 6 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- HenriCloeteTrondheim, Norway225 contributionsWe stopped here one afternoon during our stay in La Restinga. The area is beautiful and there are several bays that are excellent for snorkelling.Written 22 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JMGenevaGeneva, Switzerland1,997 contributionsThis place is a bit out of the way but the detour is absolutely worth the effort. Fantastic views and even more impressive resilient trees.. nature in all its splendor!Written 6 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HenriCloeteTrondheim, Norway225 contributionsThe museum of the Guinea village is very interesting and worth a visit. The conservation effort of the local lizards is admirable (although the lizards themselves were a bit of a let down, but it might just be because we grew up with larger lizards in Africa). Unfortunately, the tour was only in Spanish (although the tour guide made a great effort to give us a quick summary in English at each stop), which made the tour feel a bit like wasted time for us - it would definitely be good to have at least one English tour in a day.Written 23 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sunshinegirl2018Dhekelia, Cyprus23 contributionsWe walked down the trail from Valverde which took about 2 hours. It's clearly marked but steep and uneven under foot. La Caleta is a small village in a beautiful spot. It has one cafe, Yesimar, which was very busy with locals. Delicious tapas at affordable prices. Next we swam in the pools right by the sea. A wonderful swimming experience! Finally we xaught the bus back up to Valverde. Local buses are brilliant here.Written 12 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BorisBrusselaarBrussels, Belgium1,274 contributionsIt was our first mirador visited at el Hierro and it was simply breathtaking. The weather was perfect and we could see the entire la Frontera region and the mountain chain. We also took an hour stroll along the ridge just to enjoy this beauty.
Good to know that from this mirador starts the hiking treck with the same name, which used to serve the only connection between parts of island before roads were built.Written 6 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's a moderately steep walk of 15 minutes down a well marked path with some steps down the side of the cliffs to the old fishermans village below. The houses are now privately owner and holiday lets, with a few abandoned. It's very atmospheric and peaceful. The natural pool isn't too deep and easy to swim in with no rocks. It's worth watching the waves as depending on the tide and sea level they can suddenly enter the pool and make it quite dangerous. If you want to use public transport , from Valverde , it's an on demand service. The ticket office were very helpful in ordering the 'bus' and also requested for me the return journey according to the bus timetable. I would thoroughly recommend visiting thus special place.Written 1 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pethautwp14 contributionsWe’ll worth the walk down! Some wet shoes are a good idea, the bottom is slippery. The swim in the cave to the right was good but waves do break over at times….all good funWritten 24 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LynndaDysart, UK823 contributionsWell worth a visit if you are in the area, and if you are feeling brave, a swim too, though in all reality it's hard to swim a lot of the time unless you are a very strong swimmer. The noise of the waves can be astounding. If you can, visit at dusk as the sunsets can make it very spectacularWritten 25 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HenriCloeteTrondheim, Norway225 contributionsThe tree is beautiful and the history behind it is fascinating, but on its own it is probably not worth the relatively long drive to get there. But the drive goes through beautiful scenery, so rather see visiting Árbol Garoé as part of exploring the island and make a relaxed trip out of it (people rushing there just to see the tree will likely be disappointed)Written 23 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Håkan K5 contributionsStarting in the beautiful morning light in the pine forrest the guide took us downhill in a landscape where we here and there came up to signs of the Bimbaches' life. Caves that gave them shelter, places where they gathered, lots of shells from the seafood they ate and fragments of pots for the water they drank and the rock carvings. Those started our imagination. Right here, someone sat and carved these pictures and signs. What was occuping that persons mind? Was he or she thinking how long will the carvings last? Who will look at them and what will they think ...?
Later, after the return to the El Julan center by the 4x4, we had a tase of local wine, cheese and cake on the terrace. Delicious! And in the center we could also watch a short movie and an interesting exhibition about the Bimbaches and their world.
I can strongly recommend a visit to El Julan for the Center, for the Tour and for the Landscape. Book in advance to be sure there is a guided tour!Written 17 March 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Different but also very nice!Written 16 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
