We had the whole camp for ourself - it is open from dusk to dawn and it is free.
The silence was stunning.
Go there and experience what can went wrong when nobody says : Stop - no more.
The Blood Road and the sites in the forest must be seen to believe.Written 27 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s worth to visit Weimar because of this library.
Entrance- 8euro. Audio guide is free of charge.
We didn’t take the audio guide. That’s why we spent in this hall only 20 minutes. But it’s totally worth it.
You can enter to this hall every 2 hours. We bought tickets at 13:00 and the entrance for us to the hall was at 14:30. But everyone says this info in the library and warn you. So there is no surprises.Written 11 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David NHawthorne, CA5,713 contributionsThis is a very impressive museum. The Wohnhaus (house) has extensive exhibits of Goethe's many collections, both of art and natural objects. His biography is quite interesting and he comes to life through the rooms of his house. It is hard to know where to begin with the museum itself. It is amazing. I did not allocate enough time to fully take in all of the exhibitions (and I haven't posted any photos from the museum itself). Each aspect of Goethe's life is organized and depicted with numerous artifacts from clothing to paintings to papers to busts. There is a lot to absorb here and the text is in both English and German. I do heartily recommend the English audio guide as well. I believe this is a must-see on a trip to Weimar.Written 23 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- tsvetelinat13201Plovdiv, Bulgaria51 contributionsDuring our trip to Germany we go to Weimar for a day. We go to Schloss Belvedere. It's located 5 km above the city centre. It has beautiful garden known as Russian garden. Unfortunately, it was closed for renovation and we saw it from outside, but it was and amazing structure.Written 16 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - potarackeLaupahoehoe, HI323 contributionsWe were very impressed with the Schiller home and the history therein. Part, if not most of learning about Schiller, was his personal history. ...forced to depart his family home and then gaining notoriety as a playwright and important person. Of course, there are the artifacts of his house and that is very interesting of his life and family. As an intellectual, he spent a lot of time with other intellectuals such as Goethe whose home is very near by which is my next review. SO glad I/we went to see this historical home.Written 6 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- hans-jaguarSanta Comba Dao, Portugal24,385 contributionsThe “Markt platz” is located in the Old Town of Weimar, and is called “Markt” and has been one of the most important public spaces in the city since about the year 1300. With the Renaissance buildings on the east side of the market, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a whole, and other buildings such as the town hall. When it's market time, you should definitely try a "Thuringer Bratwurst" on a bun at one of the many stalls, not to be sneezed atWritten 4 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ALISON HHarrogate, UK690 contributionsI first visited the Weimar Bauhaus Museum when it was housed in a small building in the Theaterplatz . Of necessity , given the small space , it was a bit crammed and there was not the scope for what you can enjoy in the new building . This concrete bunker did not immediately attract me and like several other reviewers I found the interior a bit stark . However now there is plenty of space to chronicle the history of the movement and display furniture and other artifacts . However I did feel sometimes there wasn't enough to fill the large space . Parts of it were very good and informative but I didn't get a feel of continuity . However the cafe sells nice food !Written 6 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ketoki33 contributionsLiszt`s apartment, where he lived until his death, occupy the upper floor and was preserved in it`s original furnishing. Very inspirational place to be and felt as comfortable place to live.
It looks like there was an exhibition on the ground floor of the building, but it was unavailable at the time I was there.Written 3 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Quite small but worth seeing although, there isn't very much left of Goethe's possessions there although, there is something they call a "mule" that he used when he wrote. It was a saddle of sorts that he would write while seated. Yes, there are a few other items and it is all very interesting. So go see it but then, go to his house that he died in on Schillerstrasse.Written 6 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lars PRoende, Denmark58 contributionsReally enjoyed the Neues Museum. Excellent way of telling the history of the beginning of modern Weimar with Belle Epoque and the Nietzsche cult. Recommend buying the ModerneCard with access to both the Neues Museum and the Bauhaus museum (though I preferred the Neues Museum by far).Written 14 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hans-jaguarSanta Comba Dao, Portugal24,385 contributionsThis is the church from “Sao Pedro and Sao Paulo” in Weimar, together with a conhecida like the Herderkirche in the home of Johann Gottfried Herder. It is the most important church building in the city, and is called city church, as opposed to the courtly castle church. It has been a Lutheran parish church since 1525, after the Reformation.Written 19 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
