- PeterHartlepool, UK773 contributionsA great place to visit for a few hours. Well planned museum , English translations on some of the exhibits. The highlight is of course the outdoor exhibits, the submarine, mine sweeper and destroyer. The submarine was my highlight , Respect to all the men who served in submarines I don't think I could have. A nice cafe , coffee good, and the toilets were clean . Highly recommended.Written 21 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Paul DegutisKaunas, Lithuania26 contributionsSüdstrand is truly a unique experience, transforming with the moving tides. When the tide is low, it seems as you can cross the entirety of the waterway, which will become a “sea” in a span of 6 hours, complete with lifeguards on duty and people swimming around. Lots of spaces for people to sit and enjoy Wilhelmshaven local snack food - fishbrötchen (which I would recommend trying).Written 7 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PeterHartlepool, UK773 contributionsI was part of a Leger Battlefield tour group, focusing on the U Boat role in the 2nd World War. As part of the tour we visited this bunker / air-raid shelter. It was an amazing visit , very atmospheric climbing the stairs to the various levels of the bunker. There is the most amazing collection of 2nd World War ephemera I have ever seen , posters , pictures , maps , photos and militaria. One photo sticks in my mind , it was taken following an Allied bombing raid , the only thing left standing was the bunker, the area around it had been completely flattened . The curator was a nice guy , very enthusiastic and keen about his bunker. If you have mobility issues the stairs could be a problem. If you get the chance visit this bunker it's amazing.Written 21 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - youngpapayaLohne (Oldenburg), Germany380 contributionsThis is a relatively small attraction, but well produced, with a nice shop and an excellent restaurant. In the restaurant you order at the counter and there was a wide selection of dishes. They then call out when your order is ready. You then need to carry your food on a tray up some stairs to the tables with the view. We did not see a lift. This makes the place unsuitable for older folk or physically disabled ones, unless you can eat at ground level without the nice view! Debit cards are accepted thank heavens as we do not like to travel with a lot of cash.Written 10 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - porche190Baumholder, Germany47 contributionsThe museum is very well appointed and set-out. The displays are excellent, with plenty of interaction, videos etc. It is however, completely in German, as you would probably expect.
I have spent a lot of time in this area and the world heritage coast line and find it very interesting. It is a local museum and should be in the local language, however a few options of may subtitles or translated headphones on the videos would have enhanced my particular visit.
The museum is excellent though and does a lot to raise awareness of the special nature of this coast line. Still worth the €5 entrance fee.Written 19 November 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I have been there a couple of times over the past few years to see The Magnets (UK a cappella group) perform. The stage and room are small but perfectly formed, and therefore wherever you sit you are guaranteed a good view and aren't miles away from the stage. It's one of my favourite venues in Germany, the acoustics are fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate to go there again. You can get a drink at the bar which runs from the stage right through to the restarant area where you can grab a bite to eat.Written 3 February 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NemoTravelerAarhus, Denmark906 contributionsThe bridge is located in Wilhelmshaven and connects the Südstrand (South Beach) with the southern part of downtown. It was opened in 1907 and is a swing bridge.
It is a beautiful structure with several nice details, and the bridge is still in daily use. Road traffic is only one way at the time and is controlled by traffic light. It is possible to walk the bridge also.Written 31 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But if you stay there a while, listnening to the ocean, watching how the water is disappearing and coming back, observe the millions of seabirds....then you start to understand this wonderful place.Written 30 April 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
