What travellers are saying
- kenhY5703SSSouthampton, UK13 contributionsWe spent 5 hours marvelling at all what was on offer, a fantastic experience for young and old. We tried to book privatley but it was fully booked so opted for the 'behind the scenes tour' ( about 1 hour) which included entry which was well worth the extra. Our guide with limited English did a very acceptable commentry on what goes on behind the scenes. The staff were excellent and most spoke some English. We went on a Saturday and took a taxi from the port, about 15Euros, and arrived at 10.00am. Be warned, by lunchtime the whole place on all floors was dangerously(?) overcrowded, if you have a choice go on a week day when the children are at school. We decided at 3.00pm to get back to the ship, and the cloak room lady booked us a taxi which arrived to pick us up as we got to street level, another 15 Euros. Overall a great experience with so much to see.Written 16 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GoAlong2Seattle, WA890 contributionsThis old tunnel stretches under the rug r to allow passage to the other side. Giant lifts at each end would lower cars into the tunnel. Now it is a pedestrian and bicycle passage. It is free and worth a stop if you are exploring waterfront.Written 1 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karim MaaroufCairo, Egypt956 contributionsThis is the warehouse and dock area. There are still some active warehouses belonging to different types of businesses. It's very nice to walk around and cross the bridges over the canals while admiring the red brick buildings. The miniatur wunderland is also here which is worth a visit as well as the Philharmonic building.Written 9 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marína V3 contributionsThis is a large port with much to see. Nearby there is a fish market and many restaurants. Some might find it boring, but there is cool history to find out for yourself if you are into learning when you sightsee.Written 8 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NathanPortsmouth, UK532 contributionsSo we was on a cruise to Hamburg and wanted to try something a little different and boy, this was certainly that. We did the english language experience with Jeremy who was a joy to be with in the dark, and is blind now himself. I wont go into too much detail but make sure you have some euros to boy a beer from the bar in total darkness at the end of the experience. Did it with the wife, my 13 year old daughter and 2 people from Poland. One of the best things we have ever done and a great way to understand life for a blind person. - Janis WBranson, MO380 contributionsThis is a gorgeous building; exquisite architecture. This is a functional governmental building for the city of Hamburg, Germany. Because of this, some areas are restricted from touring, but there is still plenty to see that makes it worth your while to take a look at this one.Written 21 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Neeks11 contributionsBrilliant zoo. Animals appeared well looked after. Polar bears and elephants were amazing. It was snowing when we went so extra special. - GoAlong2Seattle, WA890 contributionsThis large church dominates the skyline with its tall dark tower. The interior of the church is bright and airy with richly carved wood and gold accents. A visit up the tower requires a ticket that can be purchased at the visitor center next to the main church building. An elevator will take you to the top and a large viewing platform provides views all around the city.Written 1 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is an entertainment district, at one time notorious for its honky tonk atmosphere. It is somewhat cleaned up, but there still are a lot of music and places to drink beer. Very lively at night.Written 27 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
