I can see why Germans love this area so much, which is so close to the city centre and very easy to get to. The lake and the scenery and the fresh air are food for the soul with German hospitality and good food and beer - what's not to like?

The River Spree is the beautiful river that flows through Berlin, the city grew around this river ,a great way to view the amazing and eclectic architecture of the city is by taking a river cruise ,along the river are some great pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants, its just a fantastic river to check out if you're planning a holiday to this fascinating city.

Great little spot. Beautiful lake, really nice for a swim on a hot day in Berlin. Only downside it's become too popular with tourists.

We visited this place together with our daughter, and after a walk among the lake, we also spent some time playing in the small spiel platz. A small restaurante serves small dishes and good beer.

Favourite part of our 2022 summer visit to Berlin.

The Krumme Lanke (lake) is about 1 km long, surrounded by lush green trees along the Grunewald forest. On a real hot day it can get 'crowded', but otherwise lots of spots to spread a towel, change over and swim around. Water has just the right bit of coolness to make for a pleasant summer day swim. There are a couple of nudist spots .. not that it should matter unless one's super prude.

The lake is about a 45 minute U-line ride from Kruezberg (where we were staying), so an easily reachable natural swim spot.

We packed up some picnic food, towels and swim wear, hopped on the U3 line and rode along the pretty, green Berlin suburbs. Got off at the Krumme Lanke station (last on that line) and walked about a km thru the town to the lake bank to find a quiet spot under some trees.
Changed out to swim wear and jumped in. After that initial cool water shock, spent an awesome hour and a half swimming & floating around. No jet-boats, no water-craft .. just a few folks swimming around here and there ..

Walked back to the station, had a nice espresso and pastry at one of the cafes there and rode the U back.

What a great summer day to spend with my daughter (who had suggested this) and wife!

Enough Space to jog around and plenty of grass to workout, the place is slightly below road level so it gets dark early

A lovely nature break whilst visiting the busy city, this place was easily accessible with a local taxi and such a pretty spot.

We had a lovely walk along the stunning Lake Tegal shoreline, this place is well worth a visit!

We spent all afternoon lying down in the grass next to the lake. A great summer time activity, we loved to laze around watching the swans swim and adoring the beautiful view of the water and nature all around. There were some people getting rowing instructions for boating on the lake. There is an open restaurant overlooking the lake where people can have a great view while enjoying a couple of drinks. There is a track alongside the lake to walk, jog or cycle. This place relaxed me after a hectic half day of visiting places of historical interest in Berlin.

The Obersee makes for a really nice hideout from the hassle of the city. The park around it is very nicely arranged. A walk around the lake (fully accessible via footpath) takes about 20 minutes. Possibility to have a rest at the water tower with it cute café. Should be combined with a walk along nearby Orankesee and a visit to the Bauhaus-style Mies van der Rohe-Haus.

Lindenufer is a beautiful street that offers great views of the River Havel in Spandau.
The views from Lindenufer are spectacular taking in parts of the wonderful Altstadt Spandau, there's some great bridges to view, its just a very peaceful spot that's most definitely well worth a few minutes of your time if you're in the area or planning a trip to Spandau.

One of the most interesting features of Berlin is the wonderful Kupfergraben, this is a canal that splits off from the River Spree, its especially beautiful around Museum Island, great photographic opportunities, its most definitely well worth a few minutes of your time if you're in the area near Museum Island or planning a holiday to Berlin.
