If you only have time to do one thing in Baden-Baden, let it walking the length of Lichentaler Allee. It's beauty and serenity is hard to beat.

We walked to the funicular from our hotel for the exercise. While only 2.2km the majority is up hill. Coming back was a breeze. We arrived early in the day, there was no wait, and we got n the first car. A round trip ticket was 7€, cash only. There are a couple ticket machines that supposedly take credit cards. The ride to the top took five minutes. At the top there are trails for biking or hiking, restrooms, and a restaurant (also cash only). There are good views from the top. When we got back to the bottom around noon, the line was probably 30-40 people long waiting to go up, and the parking lot was completely full.

Magnificent building located steps away from the Lichtentaller Alee....and that is before you see the art. Several significant sculptures outdoors including 2 by Miro. A beautifully designed museum with great lighting and views to the outdoors....and a big indoor ramp to avoid stairs and elevators. The art changes. We were there in February of 2023 and they had a variety of interesting exhibitions. Well worth a visit for anyone visiting Baden Baden.

Easy to get to by bus from Baden Town Centre, you then take the mountain railway ( funicular) to the top around 9 euro return. Fantastic views from the top, paragliders launching as you watch and a walking track to view points. Go in clear weather! There is a bar/ restaurant serving lovely food at reasonable costs, great place for lunch! Allow 4 hours to get there and back and have a good time at the top with lunch.

We did the German tour. The guide was kind and friendly. She spoke both English and German, encouraged us to ask questions, if needed. Beautiful old casino

High in the hills of the Black Forest encircling Baden-Baden, three castles once defended the territory of the ruling house. The Hohenbaden Old Castle was built around 1100. Several grander, lower Castles were later built and Old Castle was used as a widows residence until it was destroyed by fire in 1699. Today, Hohenbaden Old Castle is a well-preserved ruins that allow your imagination to step back in time, and offer spectacular views of the breathtaking countryside. We enjoyed an amazing afternoon exploring, and appreciating, the castle and the surrounding Black Forest.

We had a rental car and drove 6.6km to a parking area near the falls to take a walk in nature on one of the days we were in Baden-Baden. From it, there is a path along a lively stream that goes to the waterfall, 1.2km away. Just after the waterfall is a gasthaus where one can stop for a drink or get lunch. It was very busy. There is another car park very near the gasthaus. After a beverage we walked along another path for an additional 1.4km before turning around and heading back the the car. The upper and lower paths to the falls were very crowded with couples and families. There are places along the paths that are wet and rocks covered with moss, so one needs to watch their footing.

If visiting Baden-Baden the Pump-House, or Trinkhalle, is a must. The building itself is impressive, but the 90 meter arched walkway is adorned with 14 Frescos which depict the lore of the Black Forest area of Germany. At Christmas time the Pump-Room is even more beautiful, as it was lined with many exquisite nativities and a very large Christmas Tree!

Please do not confuse Rosengarten auf dem Beutig with the old garden Goenneranlage which located along the Lichtentaler Allee. Many people here write comments about the wrong park as well as placed wrong photos.

So, the new garden Rosengarten auf dem Beutig is located a little far from the tourist trails, on the hill of the city and if you walk from the center it will take at least 20 minutes uphill, it is very hard and exhaustingly, especially for those who are not trained. My advice - take an Uber, a taxi or a bus if you don't have a car, and save your time and energy. The entrance fee to the park is 1 euro, take cash with you, you need to use a machine to pay. The park is excellent with breathtaking panorama view over valley. Wonderful place for taking photo, enjoying the roses in their countless varieties and colors. Worth a visit if you have extra time in Baden-Baden, if you are a park lovers, and of course, if weather is allowed. There are no shelters from the rain and no restaurants or cafes.

We visited the museum for extended exhibition "Laces and Tears" and we really enjoyed our visit. The catalogue/guide was written very well and provided immersing insight into Frida Kahlo´s life. Although you can only see replicas of Frida Kahlo´s work, it´s really worth it.

Beautiful structure and nice garden surround the casino. The restaurant looked good too, but didn’t have time to indulge.here in December meant that there was Krismas markets out the front, which just added to the atmosphere. Very nice inside as well and was smart enough not to gamble.

I followed the signs from the city up into the hills to see some of the forest. It was well labelled and I had a walk for around 1 hour and then headed back. A great experience.

Do not confuse the garden Goenneranlage (Old Rose Garden) with Rosengarten auf dem Beutig (New Rose Garden) which located in another part of town. The garden Goenneranlage located along Lichtentaler Allee when you are strolling toward Lichtentaler Abbey. Make sure to cross the footbridge into the free garden. 400 labeled kinds of roses bloom May-Oct - best in early summer, we were here in the middle of September and the roses still bloomed beautifully.

Open daily 9 am - 20 pm. Statues, green arcades, fountains, a huge pond and all this splendor is surrounded by bushes of roses of different varieties and colors. The garden is well-preserved and manicured. And this pleasure is free. Why not to visit?
