We had a delicious plate of salad, jambon cru, chorizo, melon, cheese and bread, all eaten on the deck outside and under the sun shades with the most magnificent view.
The outside had also a lovely scenic views.

The great look out point is identified on the tour and after the tour you can walk up another climb to get some excellent views and photos of the abbey.
I asked myself how a 4x4 can climb up to the Abbey in the summer.. Arriving in the abbey take an extra walk above the abbey with a view where you can see al the surroundings as a whole.

It is 500 metres straight up a rocky trail and mostly in forest and thick bush until you finally reach a clearing and the tower of Massane and are rewarded with fantastic views of the coastline.

We have visited many fantastic places like Cappadoccia and whilst Cirque de Moureze is not on the same scale it is a wonderful site.

A reasonably short climb/hike gives you access to four old castle ruins in a row which are really fun to explore, plus you get great views over the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The climb up to the main site is well worth the effort and each of the towers can be entered; the views are terrific!

We were there on a hot a crowded day, but the village is amazing, the abbey is impressive and the site is worth a trip.

The castle and the remparts are excellently preserved and you can walk on top of the remparts which was an amazing experience, the children will remember that walk and breathtaking view for a long time.
If you like walking with crowds this is for you wonderful day spent here cobbled streets tire the legs but well worth it, The views from the ramparts and the castle entrances on a nice day are stunning all around...

The views from the bridge and around the village itself are amazing as you walk along looking at how the wind and rain has carved great stretches out of the cliffs of the gorge.
From the carpark there is a great view of the village, and a path takes you from there to the remains of the castle tower and the village centre.

Our guide, that wellcomed us on site was very calm and nice lady that speaks perfect English, she explained us the history of the place and showed us the outside buildings with garden, lake and all of the things.
The views from the top of the castle were super- views of the Pyrenees and the coast.
