- Jane H8 contributionsAchraf was a tremendous guide! He knew all about the foods, of course, but he shared some incredible history at points along the way. We had amazing croissants, the best macaroons, chocolate galettes, sausages with cheese mashed potatoes ( that’s what I chose), fois gras, among other things. He picked out some great wines, too. We were a group of 8 ranging in age from 12 to 65. These kids are adventurous eaters though. The skip the line access assures that you can go right into palace. Well worth it to avoid large crowds. I went in November when there are less tourists. But beware when it’s busy It’s impossibly long lines.
The guide was excellent - Wei - and he moved us along at the right pace and explained things thoroughly. She’s truly so knowledgeable and passionate about the art pieces, architecture and history. The 3 hours we spent together felt like 30 mins. She told interesting stories about the art pieces and pointed out the hidden details that we would have otherwise completely overlooked. She’s calm and kind, whilst ticking all of the boxes and showing all the famous pieces that we wanted to see. It’s great value for money if it’s your first time to Louvre. Violette was excellent at keeping us together as a group, even in busy areas, and she skillfully balanced sightseeing with well-timed stops at charming cafés for quick warm-ups. Her warmth, knowledge, and attention to detail brought Paris to life in a way that felt both personal and immersive.
We couldn’t have asked for a better guide to share this beautiful city with. Merci beaucoup, Violette, for a truly unforgettable day! The meeting at the cafe was a very logical spot, along with many others on the tour we enjoyed breakfast. Having arrived early enough to enjoy the well appointed cafe. From there on everything flowed with our initial guide greeting and informing us about the adventure ahead. Sadly, only people from the USA needed to be told more than twice. The train journey led us to the grand forecourt of Versailles. Here we meet our Palace tour guides, being broken up into smaller groups , and equipped with bluetooth ear pieces ,we proceeded into the Palace. (Skip the que Sir) Our Guide “Humberto” was fantastic. Informative, personable, and always in view.
It gets very busy inside the palace , there are dozens of tour groups doing exactly what you are doing. No matter, Humberto was always on the ball. Very experienced and informative knowing how to manage these situations, we missed nothing. He really knew his stuff and deserved his tip. (As Australians we generally do not tip, unless the service is well above average or better. Well done Humberto! ) I can only recommend this tour based on our experience with the guide we had. However, the luck of the draw should still deliver a great day out. The guided tour finishes in the gardens where you are issued your all lines train ticket to return home. You can then stay as long as you please to enjoy the whole experience over again . As usual you exit via the souvenir shop, There are some tempting items.
We are very pleased we booked this tour via TripAdvisor . It was one of four we pre -booked for our short stay in Paris . - Peter H2 contributionsDriver picked us up punctually at the agreed upon meeting spot and then picked up another small group. We arrived early at Versailles and had time to grab a coffee etc…before meeting the tour guide in Versailles.
The tour guide Maryann was very good and informative. The tour of the palace was about 2 hours in length. We then had 1-3/4 hours to explore the gardens before van picked us up to return to Paris.
The only enhanced feature to make the experience even better would be if the driver would have given us some narration or fun facts along the drive to and from Versailles.

I spent the first half of my trip with friends who scheduled the Le Marais Walking Food Tour with Secret Food Tours. This was absolutely the highlight of my time in Paris. Ingrid was our guide through the streets and shops of Le Marais. She provided many fun facts of the area and of the foods we ate.
