he “Saint-Pierre cathedral” in Rennes is a “Roman catholic cathedral”, located in the heart of the city of Rennes.It is the seat of the archdiocese of Rennes, Dol and Saint-Malo. Built in a Classical style, it is one of the nine historic cathedrals of Brittany. Classified as a historical monument since October 1961.
The present location of the cathedral was already been used as a seat of a bishopric and this since the 6th century. It is likely that it was built in place of an older sanctuary. The old building was completely replaced by a Gothic church in the 12th century.
