What travellers are saying
- BradHong Kong, China1,78,289 contributionsThis is one of the Royal Parks of London, situated just to the west of Hyde Park and separated by The Long Water and Serpentine. The park has a crisscrossing walking paths that run through grassy and slightly wooded areas, offering plenty of rural and leisurely green space for walking, jogging, dog-walking, picnicking.
In addition to the mentioned bodies of water above, there is also a large round pond at the western end of the garden in front of Kensington Palace. There are monuments found throughout the Garden grounds, including a most touching memorial to Princess Diana just to the south of The Serpentine.
Alas, you will find an exhibition gallery, boat rentals at The Serpentine, cafes, kiosks, public toilets within the Garden as well as the adjacent Hyde Park which can be easily combined during your visit to Kensington Gardens.Written 7 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lovely grounds and nicely set in Hyde park but aside from the memorial garden when touring there is no reference to Diana or any modern royals. The whole tour is about historic royals and a man interesting section on Queen Victoria. Not the most interesting palace .Written 18 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rebecca HLeeds, UK19 contributionsLovely garden, we got there just after it opened, there was only a small queue. Great views out across London from all directions. Best of all it’s free. Nice and peaceful. The capacity tool is great too, helps gauge when is best to visit. Really enjoyed, would recommend.Written 30 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- VirginiaGalArlington, VA298 contributionsThis garden is a pleasant place, even in late November. There was a large heron, peacock, and large koi fish. Toilets nearby. Small bridge to walk over. This garden is not far from Ukrainian statue of St Volodymr.Written 27 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SeattleCoventry, UK180 contributionsChelsea Physic Garden was a serene oasis in the bustling city of London. The beautifully maintained gardens featured a wide variety of medicinal plants and exotic flora, providing a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The knowledgeable guides were more than happy to share their expertise and answer any questions about the plants and their medicinal uses. The garden's rich history and connection to the Royal Horticultural Society made it even more special. A perfect spot for nature lovers and botany enthusiasts.I bought a railcard on trainpal and got a 20% discount when I entered the RC777E code! - TheLonelyDogSouthampton, UK33 contributionsPretty cool, like a mini Eden Project , won’t take you very long, worth having a look round before or after one of the many bars and restaurants… may I suggest the Ivy, little pricey but worth the visit.Written 16 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Broncos95momJacksonville, FL98 contributionsWe spent hours in Queen Mary’s Garden on a lovely day in June. We were fascinated by all the varieties of roses! We also loved the other gardens with plants of varied heights, color and textureWritten 20 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - K&M rates platesSidcup, UK1,382 contributionsI came here with friends last Christmas to watch the darts and had a great time. The darts were amazing, the beer prices were extortionate, but what can you expect. The venue itself is a bit dated and all of the toilets seemed like they was miles away. We had a fantastic night though and I would definitely recommend the darts.Written 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cwg42London30 contributionsSaw this place on Instagram and decided to visit. Entered via Golder's Hill Park and had a bit of difficulty finding it. Easier if you go via the entrance near Jack Straws Castle. Well worth a look round. The Pergola is a nice place to take photos. No entrance charge.Written 15 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BradHong Kong, China1,78,289 contributionsThis is an ornamental water garden at the north end of The Long Water at the Kensington Gardens & Hyde Park divide. It was designed by James Pennethorne in Italian Renaissance style and constructed in the 1860s as a gift to Queen Victoria from Prince Albert.
What you will find are four basins with floating lilies, water plants and small fountain spouts. There are nice sculptures and benches to sit and enjoy the tranquil grounds. Note there is a small cafe here as well if you fancy a coffee or bite to eat while spending time at the Italian Gardens.Written 23 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We have been going there for many years and it is always a pleasure to walk through the beautifully presented gardens. There are also many interesting monuments and statues. Plenty of seating available and there are a couple of cafés which are not too pricey.Written 28 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anélta CLondon, UK7 contributionsVisiting the Garden Museum felt like stepping into a hidden gem in London. Tucked away by the Thames, it’s a peaceful retreat for anyone who loves gardening, history, or just a quiet space. The museum, housed in a beautifully restored church, has exhibits on the history of gardening, with everything from old tools to stories of famous gardeners.
But what I loved most was the garden itself—a tranquil space filled with flowers and herbs. It’s the perfect spot to relax and reflect. The café was a nice touch too, offering a chance to sit and soak in the atmosphere.
The Garden Museum is small but offers a unique blend of history, nature, and quiet beauty—a lovely escape from the city's bustle.Written 9 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It stretches from Blackfriars to Westminster and the Houses of Parliament.
You can cycle, drive or walk and there are separate cariageways for each of these methods of transport.
I would recommend walking along the embankment as you will get to see so much more. You can take in the various monuments, statues and little details compared to if you whizz past. For example check out the ornate benches and what makes up the bases of them.
In addition there is glorious scenery to enjoy like the South Bank, the Eye and the former County Hall.
Highly recommended.Written 4 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great views of the London Eye, as you are almost beside it, and nice little adventure playground - all wooden and steel materials, lots of climbing and balancing opportunities. Didn't have time to explore the rest of the park but it looked lovely.Written 18 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada8,840 contributionsThe signage says they are open Sundays and bank holidays 12-5 pm but staff told us the conservatory is open on Thursdays and Sundays. This is a good free attraction in London and is nearby lesser known attractions like Guildhall and the Whitecross Market. We enjoyed our visit to the Barbican Centre and there are lots of windows to look inside. The brutalist architecture of the centre is interesting to look at too.
The closest underground station is Barbican and there are a number of good restaurants nearby. It is within 20 minutes of St. Paul's Cathedral, Leadenhall Market and the Monument to the Great Fire of London by foot.Written 5 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
