I recommend visiting off-season because during school holidays there I can be a long queue.
I would allow for three and a half hours for a visit, so you can visit the cafe, and take time to read the large amounts of information in the Churchill Museum.

The attraction is the former command basement that Churchill and the Chiefs of Staff used in the run up to and during World War Two

You walk along a clearly defined route looking at the map rooms, communications rooms, private bedrooms, conference rooms etc.
They are exactly as they were during the war, with a few wax models of soldiers added in.

The highlights are Churchill's bedroom and the Map Room.

In the middle of the site is a large detailed room called "The Churchill Museum".
About his life, politics, personal life and humour.
There is so much information and so many artefacts in there that it needs an hour and a half on it's own to do it justice!

You will want to take many photos, though I recommend the compact "Secrets of Churchills War Rooms" book which is an expanded guide book at an affordable price, stocked with photos and relevant information.

There is a very well stocked gift shop.

Visitors get given an audio guide which is essential, as the site is large with so much to see and learn.

A unique museum that allows you to learn mainly about how the 2 World Wars affected humans and our recent history. Well laid out exhibits with 2 good gift shops and restaurant.

I booked the Fighter Four tour. It was a great experience to get up close to these special aircraft. It was very informative and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. It was super to hear again the story of the Battle of Britain while standing beside the very planes that fought in it. Plus it was great to take this tour on Armistice Day.
Thank you to Danny who gave a super tour. Top class.

A fantastic morning out! Really helpful expert volunteers. Dan (Duh-Ah-Nuh) was really good fun, incredibly knowledgeable about the ship and obviously carries a lot of passion for his work. The ship wears its age well, and the information displayed is well thought out and gives enough detail without being overwhelming.

Absolutely brilliant museum. An abundance of exhibits , going back hundreds of years nicely displayed with nuggets of history notes to inform you. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and more than prepared to chat about the history and exhibits

A must see for anyone, interested in Poland's World War 2 history. Uniforms, weapons, documents to many to list. The famous tailplane of the 188th plane shot down by 303 squadron is displayed. General Anders desk along with uniform is displayed. General Sikorski's plane crash uniform also. Very moving bits of history

"The Royal Hospital Chelsea was an awe-inspiring visit. The grand buildings and beautiful gardens offered a glimpse into the rich history and tradition of the British military. The retired soldiers' quarters were a fascinating insight into their lives and service. The Chelsea Pensioners were warm and welcoming, sharing their stories and experiences with us. The visit concluded with a moving ceremony at the Memorial Garden, honoring those who have served. A heartfelt thank you to the staff for their kindness and the incredible experience. Highly recommend for anyone interested in military history and honoring those who have served our country."I bought a railcard on trainpal and got a 20% discount when I entered the RC777E code! Hope to help those who come to the UK to play~

This is a small venue that houses monuments to those who have their lives in three wars. Apparently there was some reshuffling of venues at a previous home as the land/space was needed for other things and the monuments were relocated here. There are a few exhibits on the walkways above and the venue now seems to be focusing on pre-booked events. Luckily, this venue opened their doors for London Open House 2024, giving an opportunity to see the inside. The colors used inside are based on the regiment’s colors and are striking. There was a small space to have a seat and coffee/tea snacks. If of interest, check the website for open hours beforehand.
