This was a nice “taste of British history” but a very long day. Be prepared for 11-12 hours all in!
Pros:
1. Robert, our amazing tour guide, was a font of edutainment. He made the entry queues feel shorter (even in biting wind at Windsor) and we learned a lot.
2. Maric, our driver, navigated the beautiful, spotless tour buss through heavy traffic and narrow country roads with ease.
3. We saw 3 sites we would not have seen if we had not done this tour.
4. The sites and British countryside were fabulous - late fall beauty and historic sites were well organized, interesting, and clean.
5. Bath houses as especially lovely with holiday lights and market in full swing.
Cons:
1. We waited over an hour for entry into Windsor castle, which left us with less than an hour to walk through. I would have loved more time at the castle.
2. Running behind at Windsor ate into our time at Stonehenge and Bath. Stonehenge also had long lines for the coach to go to the actual site so again more time in the queue than at the actual site. It was quite windy and cold so we only spent 10 minutes at the actual Stonehenge site as a family.
Tips:
1. Be prepared for queues of an hour or longer - have coats, hats, gloves, etc.,
2. Most of these sites were not very accessible - which is true for much of London as well. Restrooms downstairs with no visible lift alternative.
3. There were drinks/food at every stop but because of the queues some people weren’t able to purchase anything. Consider bringing water and snack/sandwich.
All in all this was an enjoyable, once in a lifetime trip!
