What travellers are saying
- SazzyB85Bedford, UK10 contributionsWe came here on the 2nd December. Lovely place to visit. Lots to see. Very Christmassy and pretty. Lots of information and history facts. Beautiful pieces of history and lots of lovely art. Most staff were friendly and helpful apart from one unfortunately which spoilt some of the visit. We happened to walk the wrong way by mistake and this member of staff snapped at us and told us it wasn't a free for all viewing area. Would love to visit again, for the lovely artwork and interesting history.Written 2 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sylvia B1 contributionI was amazed that I hadn't heard of this lovely place before I picked it out on line for a day out with my grandson in the recent half term.
It is so easy to get around, the staff are very knowledgeable kind and friendly.
The animals are extremely well cared for and very easy to see!
My grandson was in his element!
I thoroughly recommend you visit as soon as you can!

- Aless GLondon, England, United Kingdom18 contributionsSmall place, but so is the isle of wight! Reasonable selection of animals, some of the enclosures look a little small but we understand that they only transitioned from being a zoo 4 years ago so I imagine that they'll get there.
Highlight was meeting the lemurs and the reptile house where the employee was very lovely and informative and happened to be 1:1!Written 5 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Good value for money, very well kept gardens and models. Surprised how true to life the models are, having been to a couple of the real locations the day before. Well worth the visit.Written 20 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lucy TIsle of Wight, UK220 contributionsCarisbrooke Castle is always a good day out with plenty to see and do. We went for my birthday and the views from the castle walls and keep are so nice you could stay up there and look out all day! The donkeys are very sweet. Well worth a visit.Written 1 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Alexandra GBirchington, UK468 contributionsThis is a hard attraction to rate as an experience. Its a gorge with a waterfall and its history as an early attraction is significant demanding it is maintained. There is a room explaining about its role in WW2, a very small cafe and shop with mini museum. There are interpretation boards, but these were blocked by the Halloween displays when I visited. The owners obviously try their best to make this worth a visit, and I support them in what they are trying to do. Sadly their avery is empty and the Halloween items were plentiful but as a mature adult seemed tacky and rather spoiled the walk.
The best thing is that if you buy a ticket it lasts for a week, so if you are going frequently between Shanklin Bay and Old Shanklin (where you can get #2 and #3 buses) then you can use this delightful walk as a "cut through". Though stepped in parts and very steep at the waterfall (old town ) end, It's a lovely and smart choice especially using it to go down it to the beach.Written 10 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DouglasGrossSaline, MI47 contributionsRarely in life, does one, have the opportunity to really separate themselves from the noise of the world. I spent a four day silent retreat at the Abbey attending services seven times a day, eating lunch and dinner with the monks and staying in the dorm. I turned my phone off, didn’t read books, but primarily contemplated life and wrote. This was a pretty special experience. I don’t know that I do it every year, but as I transition from my working career to the next stage, this was a wonderful period of contemplation.Written 14 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michelle PWaikato Region, New Zealand10 contributionsWe had the Owl and Hawk experience just before Christmas. We had two handlers, apologies can't remember the young woman who took the hawk out for us, she was fabulous, knowledgable, passionate about her work and a lot of fun. The other handler Cole is amazing we loved her passion for her work, the birds and the environment, her knowledge coupled with her subtle wit is fantastic.
They are both incredible assets to the centre. Brilliant with visitors, like hanging out with friends. Thanks for making my niece visiting from NZ for Christmas Owl/Hawk encounter an unforgettable one. Look forward to visiting again soon.Written 21 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We spent the entire day there and were the last to leave with our 2 year old.
There are jumping pillows, go kart type things, an outside play area, indoor soft play, a tractor ride along track, trampolines, indoor play area, animals, the list is endless.
The food in the restaurant was lovely, and the parking is completely free.
I would highly recommend.Written 14 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 301lisa33Coventry, UK1,725 contributionsWe popped into the cafe in the Battery for a light lunch. The weather was poor so we needed to sit indoors. Not much seating but fabulous views from the upper floor. The downstairs room is home to an fascinating large map of the Normandy landings. Many would find it of interest

Have also seen Leo Sayer who was amazing! The theatre is well staffed/volunteered & everyone helpful. It’s a lovely theatre & is always a opleasure to go there.Written 7 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
