Medieval wall paintings visible in many areas. An 85 metre long nave and a stunning carved altar screen behind which are two ancient shrines - one St Alban, and the other St Amphibalus. Definitely a must-see when in St Albans.Written 25 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lynne MHoddesdon, UK6 contributionsI visit this zoo with my Grandson quite a lot. We love it here. The only thing I can say is that when we visited this week I noticed that certain things have changed! Being season ticket holders we used to get the mini golf free but now we have to pay £3 each. The same goes for the train, we used to get one free ride but now we have to pay £2 each. The other thing we noticed was that when we walked through the dinosaur area whereas before we could come straight out, we now have to go through the gift shop. I don't agree with this, it is not fair. Some people simply don't have enough money to buy gifts for their children.Written 21 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Oliver leese3 contributionsGreat day out for my dad’s birthday. He had the Formula 3000 experience and thoroughly enjoyed it. Big shout out to Nick/Santa for his hospitality and help in understanding how to drive it!Written 23 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cheekycockney190757Basildon, UK12,517 contributionsVisited on Wednesday 05th February 2025 A quick visit to Britain's first-ever Aircraft Museum and the site of the first-ever Mosquito built. The entrance is quite sharp and convoluted through a farm but once through there is a nice free car park and signage of the site, before you enter the reception/shop & cafe. Once you pay you are guided to the initial hanger which contains 3 Mosquitos inc the first ever one. Beyond the history detailed in each exhibit, there were plenty of knowledgeable volunteers who were more than happy to provide insights into the history of the site. The second hanger contains some interesting firsts inc the sole remaining Comet with square windows, and a line of engines produced by de Havilland. You then move to outside exhibits inc various airframes, as a restoration hut. I returned to the cafe and had some refreshments which were good in variety and price. It was a great site to visit and well worth an hour or 2 of your time.Written 19 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pavel PieceGreatham, UK3 contributionsThis lovely park is well-kept and offers free parking for two hours. It has a café, restrooms, and is fully accessible. A canal with water features, walking trails, and a large field for sports or picnics add to its charm. Kids can enjoy a train ride and a playground, while dogs are welcome too. Just a 10-minute walk from Watford station, it’s a perfect spot to unwind and have fun!Written 22 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Russell1Bethersden, UK135 contributionsWe visited with family while staying in the area. The lavender fields are stunning and bigger than I expected. There are also sunflower fields and wild flowers fields. It is really pretty and smells lovely. You can pick your own lavender for £4 a bag or £1 for one stem of sunflower. It was busy when we were there but still plenty of space. We took a picnic and there are picnic tables all around. I can’t comment on food or cafe as we took our own. A nice way to spend a couple of hours.Written 28 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- H DBerkhamsted, UK15 contributionsWe had an excellent tour here with our very knowledgeable and friendly guide, nothing felt like it was too much trouble even with all our questions. We also had a great experience looking at all the cows with the lovely gentleman looking after them.
After the tour we were invited to attend the feast, unfortunately we didn't have time so went to the cafe - food there was excellent, we had samosas, noodles and chilli paneer.
It was January so we didn't look around the grounds too much but they looked lovely from afar. Would love to come back in the summer.Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. See loads of birds and wildlife especially deer 🦌! Atmospheric misty day when we went, but beautiful in all weather's as we only live 15 mins away! Bluebell season is stunning, please keep to the paths. We have been in thick snow couple of years ago and it was magical!Written 26 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We fancied something hot so got kids meals. They were as expected for this type of place . What astounded me was the 50p! charge for a small sachet of ketchup. Come on willows with what you charge for meals do you not think 50p is a bit of a piss take. Next time I'll bring my own bottle .Written 19 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
