What travellers are saying
- Bob WSandown, England, United Kingdom285 contributionsExtensive and absorbing, Solent Sky keeps on giving. You could spend hours here if you look beyond the splendid aircraft and models - the displays are so informative. The police and fire service museum is a gem in its own right, and as a lifelong admirer of Britten Norman it was great to visit the BNAPS display.Written 6 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Orange4blueLancaster, PA104 contributionsVery informative visit that focuses a lot on the crew that worked on the Titanic. Many lived in Southampton. Displays were interesting, many interactive experiences for children and many movies with survivors talking. They also showed a movie describing the trial held after it sank where you can hear the live testimony.Written 1 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 7preacher7Detroit Lakes, MN15 contributionsWe loved the Tudor House! What made it awesome was the knowledge and attentiveness of Tim. This guy is a wealth of information and very friendly! He could answer pretty much any questions I could throw at him, including things about England and other attractions that were not related to Tudor House. Thanks Tim, we an awesome day because of you!Written 20 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- sarkienglandWorthing, UK184 contributionsThe Mayflower has a rather "weathered" look inside and out, getting all a bit faded. The staff working there are amazing and helpful and need to be thanks to the lack of signposting around the theatre to find your area and seat. Bar areas are popular, busy and expensive especially if you opt for the VIP experience while very nice indeed is costly at £25 a head for a drink and some cakes and an ice cream ! We found the seating very worn, cramped and excruciatingly uncomfortable for an arthritis sufferer so be warned. Be aware that upper levels are very steep with hundreds of steps but do of course offer a great view of the stage. There is a lift but takes only 4 at a time. Sound quality is superb even with a live band as is the lighting etc. Would certainly go again but would be very careful about which seats I booked for comforts sake.Written 18 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WiltshirewallHighworth, UK341 contributionsFirstly, Red Funnel Ferries are our preferred method of travelling to the Isle of Wight. My wife has mobility issues, meaning that we have to request authority to stay with our vehicle throughout the crossing. It also means that we need to use the disabled facilities at both Southampton and East Cowes terminals, which are very clean and well maintained. All the customer service staff we dealt with pre-travel were excellent and the staff we encountered on both crossings were also very good. My only gripe, although no doubt made for safety reasons, is that staying with our vehicle does not offer us the same views as open to able bodied passengers.Written 17 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - James P55 contributionsI was there as part of the sea cadets and it was a very interesting experience to go and see the places a typical passenger would be unable to view. We did not sail however I believe it would be pleasant sailing onboard.Written 15 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Fanny AnnieSuffolk, UK18 contributionsA regular stop-over in Southampton on cruises and other holidays, I always look forward to a visit to the shopping centre. However, I think the timing of this visit was pants! Very overcrowded because of the start of the university term, the Boat Show was in town, a few ships were in and Southampton FC were playing at home. I could not get a seat anywhere for a cup of tea until quite late in the afternoon, the toilets had queues out the door and the whole experience resulted in a thumping headache. Normally, it is much more enjoyable with the usual range of shops and excellent facilities over a number of floors. Luckily the weather was on my side, so I was able to sit outside on the steps with a sandwich.
We booked an evening meal. The atmosphere is really buzzing in the evenings and there is a good range of venues. On busy days like this I think you really should book ahead.Written 1 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - places2seeplaces2goEngland, UK6,504 contributionsGood venue for a live concert.
Easy to get to from Southampton Railway Station (probably 30 min walk)
Smaller than many other outdoor venues & although the group I was with, didn’t get there that early we were able to get fairly near the front.
Plenty of “expensive” food & drink vendors.Written 15 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Not really an "escape" room, but a series of clues you have to decipher to discover who has been sabotaging the Brickworks.
A really good host who stayed in period character the whole time, a well constructed series of clues that were fun for kids (aged 7 & 10) as well as adults, with some nice surprises along the way. Would definitely recommend.Written 5 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Definitely worth a look & explore around it.
