What travellers are saying
- KandNAustraliaAustralia116 contributionsStunning gardens and sculptures - exceeded our expectations. The paths are easy to walk, the sculpture is interesting and varied, the garden is clever and we found the information boards provided very useful.Written 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EatstaysleeprepeatYeovil, England11 contributionsJust to clarify, Bridport Market is one of a kind, one of the bigest, most thriving weekly markets in the country with an incredibly supportive Town Council and hardworking, intuitive 'Toby' (market manager)
It offers up to 150 traders over 4 streets in the height of summer, at the end of 2023, we have more traders than ever, with a constant turnover of both essential and artisan traders.
But - and here's the thing, when the weather's rubbish, there will be fewer traders.
We're not a living museum, we are professional business people, so if stock might be damaged, or the streets empty were less likely to stall out and stand there for 7 hours.
You should also know that Market traders public liability insurance won't cover trading in winds of 22 mph or over.
However there will always be many more traders than the national average of charter Market traders.
Please come and experience an amazing Market.Written 2 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steven JShaftesbury, UK12 contributionsThis was our regular December visit to West Bay and we always eat at Sladers Yard. The food is excellent - whatever you choose will be fresh and of high quality. It’s not a fast food outlet so, if you’re in a hurry, go elsewhere. The staff are very friendly and do their best to accommodate the needs of all. I thoroughly recommend eating there - particularly the fish pie or the fish stew - wonderful!Written 1 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stuart CBournemouth, UK2,709 contributionsGreat place to go and enjoy a coffee, visit the hand made Newley shop or the crafts within the kill. Nice environment to walk around!Written 13 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Solitaire258Poole, UK33 contributionsSo pretty definitely worth a visit.
The cafe could offer a bit more in the food dept but otherwise okay.
If all of the steps around the gardens had a hand rail, at least on one side, this would greatly assist the older generation who can still mobolise but need some assistance.
Otherwise, a lovely day out worth visiting.Written 15 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - beachbadeEngland191 contributionsLove this place, we have to come every year when we're down here on holiday, you never know what you're going to find.
This time we went in the cafe too, lovely cream tea, decent prices too.Written 4 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Mostly I found the ornaments etc interesting and nostalgic as I recognised a lot of it from things my Grandparents had in their homes, so that was a lovely trip down memory lane. Unfortunately it wasn’t clean, everything so so dusty and a scarf I bought smelled so bad of damp that I threw it away. Also very overpriced, one item I thought to buy was £20, dusty and I could have bought new from eBay for £12.50. Interesting place to look and I would have paid the inflated price if it were clean.Written 25 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I am really happy about everything, including package transport and sensitive handling of Mum and Dad's ashes. - JohnAsher16 contributionsA wonderful selection of books over two floors and several rooms plus an array of paintings and curios. Great that book shops like these still survive with the rise of internet book shops. Very well organised book sections. Excellent value for money and a really friendly service. Owner even provided a waterproof bag to package up the twelve heavy tomes I bought to head off in the pouring rain. Would recommend this book shop 100% of visiting Lyme Regis.Written 22 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Suzanna W1 contributionI had been looking for some pieces of art for a while and found not one, but three pieces at this gallery! Donna Goold could not have been more helpful, whilst at the same time not pushy at all. We spent a long time chatting and she allowed the time for me to make some decisions and showed me pieces which were not on display, which helped to find the right pieces for our home. Could not be happier. We will revisit when next down in Bridport.Written 27 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dream327953622382 contributionsI am visiting my family from Lanzarote, bringing with me two watches which needed attention. Back on the island, the service was useless, so took a punt on bringing them back here. Popped into Gladstones as we were visiting Weymouth for the day, and the service was fast, cheap and extremely professional. Would recommend 100%Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
