What travellers are saying
- Tracey D49 contributionsOriginally from the south west we had not visited this attraction since childhood school trips when the ship was first brought back to Bristol. Gosh...how it had changed! This is one of the best visitor attractions we have ever done...there is so much to see , you could easily stop halfway through for lunch along the quays and return for the rest of the day. The staff are all superb, friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The attention to detail in showing the ship's history is phenomenal from the recreated classes to the museum area and viewing under the ship too. The explanations of it's varied history is interesting & so well laid out including interactive things for families with kids. The extra museum about Brunel himself is an activity in it's own right. A great gift shop & café too. It is amazing value & I can't reccommend it highly enough!Written 30 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - andrea wHythe, UK10 contributionsReally modern, interesting and informative visitor centre. The bridge itself was beautiful and fun to walk across at 300 foot above the river with good views.Written 24 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bellabellabobLondon, UK100 contributionsBrilliant magic experience. We attended 7pm Sat 28 Jan. Very organised. We arrived 6.15pm to the lovely old traditional Bristol bar. Great selection of drinks. Ordered pizza which we had paid for, for the interval. Given a ‘buzzer’ for when they wanted to seat us. Theatre is compact and they seat from the front. All v organised. 👍
Great magic experience. Split into 2 halves. Second half we had a mind reader. No spoilers. Impressive. They said at the start if you don’t want to go on stage, just point at someone to go in your behalf! Was all good, no pressure. Recommend. We stayed in bar afterwards. Brilliant close up card magic at our table, then live music . 👍🪄Written 29 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cazkeatingDorchester, UK6 contributionsWe the Curious is currently closed due to a fire. However, my 4 year old son and I noticed there was an activity on outside the museum. For completely free of charge my son spent 90 minutes building objects out of straws and connectors. The staff were all so engaging, kind and enthusiastic. Based on this lovely experience which I would like to say a big thank you for, we can't wait to visit when the museum re opens😃.Written 7 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - david nManchester, UK4,227 contributionsThe prices were very reasonable so you get to see part of the city from a different angle. We chanced across a landing point just as the boat was arriving so we were lucky as the signage wasn't too clear. Well-recommended.Written 7 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MrsGBristol, UK16 contributionsI love this place!
Go often with my kids on a wet day. Nice staff and child friendly.
The museum and gallery is gorgeous!
With small kids I don’t get a lot of time to stop and take it all in, but the kids love the animals, dinosaur area, crystals and just the vast space to wonder.
Good cafe too.
And it’s free! But they ask for a donation, not compulsory, and we try to when we visit go to the cafe and shop to support the museum ❤️Written 8 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was absolutely wonderfully warm & cosy in the museum & cafe , thanks to the underfloor heating. Meant we could look at the fabulous collection in perfect comfort and enjoy a really reasonably priced coffee too. A great place to visit at this time of year.
We particularly loved the cabinets the displays were in - presumably salvaged from shops too. Thank you.Written 27 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Where were all the spades and lawn mowers?Written 29 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dalglish01Edinburgh, UK36 contributionsThe guides were all great - fun and informative. We learnt a lot about the university, its history and famous former students. The climb to the bell tower was well worth it. Amazing views over Bristol from the viewing platform at the top of the tower. It’s also great value, and for a good cause. Highly recommended.Written 4 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ian MBackworth, UK394 contributionsA marvellous gothic church with an extremely interesting history. The Mary Redcliffe is just a short walk from the harbourside. Though it is old, the church has a lovely warm feeling. You are made welcome straight away by the volunteers who provide you with a laminated guide which you return before leaving. There are some fascinating stained glass windows and you must see the wooden altar shaped as a boat. This is a working parish church with a difference.Written 29 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SinocatkNanjing, China1 contributionCharlotte was an absolutely stellar guide, her passion enthusiasm and knowledge about the place and people within was peerless. If it was possible to give 6 stars for the tour I had (21/01/23) I would give that.
I will be recommending the tour to many others and hope to go back again for some of the other tours that focus on different aspects of the cemetery.
It was fantastic to hear the stories behind the monuments and also hear about the people that made the place what it is. Charlotte was a fountain of information and only too happy to answer our questions. Her unbridled enthusiasm for helping people to learn more and informative anecdotes really made it a (excuse the pun) memorial experience!Written 21 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Loads of History, the SS Great Britain, a Steam Train going up and down, great atmosphere and loads of places to drink and eat. Even a Ferry to help you across if you want to skip the long walk to the bridges. Absolutely beautiful settings and will be going back soon, love this place.Written 18 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Storyteller8195932 contributionsWe visited the Cathedral on a Sunday afternoon, such a beautiful place to visit.
We were asked to join the Evensong service at 3.30pm and to sit in the Quire with the Choristers. The singing was heavenly, so very beautiful, and a Bach Prelude to finish.
A memorable day, thank you so much.Written 15 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
