A must visit in Durgapur. There is a park being built on the banks at the moment. You can also enjoy a boat ride on the waters

We had already visited the 108 Shiva temples at Ambika Kalna and now wanted to visit the one at Nababhat, Burdwan. The temples at Ambika Kalna are in two concentric circles, those at Nababhat are arranged in a rectangular format. The temples here were constructed in 1788 by Maharani Bishnu Kumari Devi, wife of Tilak Chandra Bahadur of Bardhaman royal family.
These were restored/rebuilt in 1965. To my eyes NOTHING remains of what the Queen established....she spent Rs 100,000 in those days, perhaps more.
Apparently, records say there are 109 Shiv temples. I never counted.

There is a large Parking lot. They did not charge us anything although a fee is payable. They also did not sell us entrance tickets although the system exists. Good toilet facilities (Jaquar fixtures) for a pittance and a not so nice one for free. Footwear has to be removed. They have a system for safekeeping. INR 1 per pair. There is a stall inside the temple complex selling items you need to offer puja. There is a Gift shop outside the gate and you can buy neatly packaged "Prasad" at the gate.

There are ponds inside and as you walk down the path you peep inside (or enter) and offer a quick pranam or a few flowers to the Shiv idols inside. The Shivlinga always faces East, so as I walked down, it appeared that the idols were oriented differently.

Marble memorial plaques are affixed on the floor in front of the temples. These sometimes have poignant messages of remembrance.

I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the entire temple complex; also very quiet and peaceful. Even the kids were not rowdy; not an infant bawled-I must have been very lucky that day! Tall trees cast a green shade on the clean waters....this is a place where you can sit down and commune with yourself, with nature, with the divine.
Temples are pretty much representative of the Bengal aatchala types. Painted Pink. No terracotta tiles remain. such a pity. Still, the well-maintained temples are standing strong and that, is a blessing in itself.

We went on a day trip from Durgapur and reached the Deul Park after crossing the Garh Jungle. Beautiful park across huge area, perfect picnic spot during winters. There is a restaurant in the park and also rooms to stay. There were many rides for children, but we saw that all of them were non-operational, may be due to Covid situation.

Overall, a good place to spend a day.

I go here once a year. Birders paradise. Birds are at close distance, so perfect for photography. About 135 km from Kolkata.

Awesome place.... Ideal for a monsoon drive or early morning drive.... If you like driving amidst jungle on unpaved roads then this is absolutely worth it. Mind the weather as it can be quite humid if visited when the sun is out.

It is a good place for picnics in winter. Though this place does not have much rides and other attractions but it is very well decorated with flowers. It also offers boating.
