Easy to spend some time here as there are plenty of things you could do. Nice for talking a walk and checking out the older vibes if you don’t want to tire yourself out.

The expansive green space in the center of the city is home to Mount Royal, the mountain (really just a large hill) from which Montreal gets its name.

It is the highest point in the city. Towering over central Montréal, Parc du Mont-Royal (Mount Royal Park) is frequented by joggers, picnickers, dog walkers, and bicyclists throughout the year, and it's one of Montréal's largest green spaces

During the warmer months, (we went there on US Memorial weekend, May 2024)- you can rent rowboats on the park's Lac aux Castors (Beaver Lake), but we preferred the Chalet du Mont-Royal (also called View Point) - It offers breathtaking park and city views any time of year. You can also take a stroll through one of the park's three cemeteries (one English, one Jewish, and one French). Mount Royal also has a lake (Lac aux Castors, or Beaver Lake) where you can rent a paddle boat, admire baby ducklings, or iced skate, depending on the season

There are several eateries on-site as well as a gift shop and bathrooms. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight; the Mount Royal Park Welcome Centre is open from 8 AM to 8 PM daily. Admission to the park is free.

Although I visited the Botanical Garden by the end of fall -when most of the trees are almost done shedding their leaves and the flowering plants are not flowering anymore, I was overwhelmed by the amount of beautiful trees, plants, shrubs and other floral organisms, plus the constructions providing different environments (e.g. Chinese garden, Japanese garden, rose garden etc.) are just ideally designed for an immersive experience. I didn't cover the whole place on my visit though, because it's huge.

A museum of art in downtown Montreal. No need to paybfor entering but we have to reserve the tickets to show their staff when we arrive.

There are quite a few exposition each floor. Not big but good for people who love arts.

We come to look at Inuit arts. Interesting and different.

There is a souvenir shop on the first floor, mostly selling notebooks, bags and some jewelry.

Lovely to walk around and take in all the sights. We took pics of the Ferris wheel but it is gigantic and we chose to admire it from afar.

The Little France around Laurier St is a beautiful vibrant cool area. I like it. Very charming, delicious food. Fantastic croissants for 2 for $1.50 at the Metro grocery. Lots of cafes and specialty shops like cheeses, grilled cheese, awesome breakfasts. The area is pretty and colourful, well kept. Very clean. Also next to a huge park. It's a short hop to Mt Royal Blvd and the food is so good in this area. Also lots of excellent coffee shops. It's one of the best areas in town.

Place d'Armes stands as a stunning square in the heart of Old Montreal, Quebec, Canada, prominently featuring a monument dedicated to Paul de Chomedey, the city's founder. The square is undeniably surrounded by architectural masterpieces, including the magnificent Notre-Dame Basilica, Saint-Sulpice Seminary, the iconic New York Life Building, and the historic Bank of Montreal, alongside 500 Place D'Armes.

As one of the most beautiful squares in Old Montreal, Place d'Armes showcases numerous statues and public art. This open space is skillfully framed by some of the city's finest structures, including its oldest bank, its first skyscraper, and the breathtaking Basilique Notre-Dame.

Mont-Royal rises 233 meters above the city and is the green lung near the city center. A stroll through this lovely park enables the visitor to see monuments to Jacques Cartier and King George VI. The chalet has a restaurant, bathrooms, and a huge hall to warm up in the winter.

This beautiful chalet functions as a social space but its artwork and woodwork are worth the detour.

Outside, the stone façade features large windows and elegant doors. Inside, large-scale paintings by Canadian artists depict the history of Montréal. There is also a food counter, a souvenir boutique, and an information kiosk at the Chalet.

curious though- The Chalet itself is large and curiously empty. It’s a beautiful building, with wood-carved squirrels supporting the arches of the roof… and nothing inside, apart from a few chairs, bathrooms, and vending machines.

A spectacular edifice in a sort of art deco style that dominates the skyline of Montreal. Looks like a smaller version of the empire state building
