What travellers are saying
- ledicarusRed Deer, Canada78 contributionsBeautiful recreation park with lots of trails and things to see. Located in the heart of Red Deer and yet still filled with nature - ponds, plants, trees, geese, deer. Ice skating on the ponds in the winter. Trails are paved and great for pedestrians and bicyclists. Trails extend from Taylor Drive bridge overpass all the way west to Heritage Ranch.Written 28 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ledicarusRed Deer, Canada78 contributionsAlways worth the visit. It is accessible on foot/bicycle via Red Deer's extensive trail system. The sanctuary is open year round. There is a boardwalk leading to a two level nature observation deck in the lake closest to the nature centre. The park has a lot of wildlife year round including various birds, moose, and deer. I went there and fed the chickadees seeds from my hand on a couple occasions just as Mrs. Gaetz did nearly 100 years ago.Written 28 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joe1 contributionI took my two young boys (2 & 5), there for a morning. They loved the games and activities. My 5 year old could have spent all day playing the old video games. My 2 year old had a shorter attention span but didn't run out of displays to interact with. Its definitely worth a visit.Written 5 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- dette601Red Deer, Canada11 contributionsGreat fun for families young and old. The grounds are clean. Water is also clean. Lazy river going down easy rapids. The playground is new and very different from the usual play structure. Washroom facilities available. Great place. All we need is more hot weather!Written 4 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Adelle C1 contributionSuch a cute place. So happy I found it on the list of things to do in Red Deer. Our 2 year old loves tractors and animals so we had a beautiful morning strolling around checking things out. It’s pay by donation and a very help yourself vibe so you are free to roam around and check out the huge collection of old farm equipment, animals, tools, old homes etc. We would love to come back when there is an event on as I’m sure the train ride would be a huge hit.
I went to college here 10 years ago and didn’t even know this gem was hidden here!Written 25 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They get blue-green algae, which can be toxic/fatal for your dog. So be smart. Make sure the water is clean. Look it up online before letting your dog swim or drink from there.Written 12 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - advcardsReno, NV3,432 contributionsSmall exhibit little Museum Fort TP, overlooking the river. I’m sure and watch the video and actually explain the process a little bit museum itself is free although you can make a donation overall probably a half hour to 45 minute stretch break and walk around.Written 3 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - browncondo2102Kitchener, Canada1,592 contributionsWe were staying with family who have a young yellow lab. It is a well laid out dog walk/run. We let her go once inside and we walk along the paths at our own pace while she ran along or with other dogs. Great place in the city to bring your dog.Written 25 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PeregrineEdmontonEdmonton272 contributionsThis is a very central picnic area and easy walk from central hotels. There are lots of tables, good parking and a picnic shelter. This park connects to the rest of the trail system, so could be a start for a longer hike. There is also a playground.
The surprise for this place was the hike up "Piper Mountain". It isn't obvious from the ground, but there is a switchback climb up to the top of a hill which gives you a good viewpoint over part of the downtown. There are old growth spruces and lots of saskatoon bushes and mountain ash trees on the way up. As you climb, you can look into the higher tree branches and see more of the birdlife in the tree tops.Written 6 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
