What travellers are saying
- BHead10Minnesota8 contributionsWhen you get off the bus keep moving. The real Mercado 28 is 3-4 blocks away. Don’t go in the jewelry store right off the bus. They are scammers. Most stuff can be bought for about half of asking price. Have fun dealing with the merchants. They expect it. Most stuff could probably be bought cheaper at Walmart but what’s the fun if that?Written 31 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SarahWang0609Fairfax, VA24 contributionsI did a bit research online and decided to go to mecado 23 instead of 28. The hotel staff and taxi driver both recommended mercado 28 as it's bigger and more to see. We did not regret the decision to go to mercado 23. It is truly close to local life and the vendors in the market were friendly and you won't experience aggressive sales. The souvinir prices are very reasonable and most of the items have price tags so you won't have to haggle. The only thing to keep in mind is to bring enough pesos! Most shops here are cash only.Written 29 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- kingofthehill81Allen, TX278 contributionsThis place is terrible. There are a ton of booths, but they all have the same crap. Everyone wants to "negotiate" but they are all overpriced. They will not leave you alone and will say just about anything to get you into one of their booths. I would stay clear unless you are down here for a different reason.Written 10 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ADoloresLafayette, IN1,439 contributionsWe are staying in a villa with a kitchen so we needed to stock up on food. We drove to Walmart and luckily we were warned to bring bags with us. The store is laid out in a very incomprehensible manner. We kept wandering up and down aisles looking for food items. Not the greatest shopping experience.Written 23 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
