What travellers are saying
- Harry ALong Island, NY35 contributionsA nice open-air mall to walk around at night or on a cloudy day. Plenty of attractions to choose from if you get bored of sitting by the beach one day. Plenty of places to get food or coffee. All in all, a great place to spend a couple of hours on vacation.
A few other points:
-There are a lot of kiosks selling tickets to local attractions, any they can get pretty aggressive. Just ignore them and they will usually leave you alone.
-The souvenir shops in la isla are obvious tourist traps. Any store the lists their prices first in dollars and THEN in pesos is a clear red flag for me. Indeed, many of the shirts and souvenirs they were selling I found for less than half price at Chederaui supermarket just a few blocks away (it’s a block away from cocobngo, if you want to see for yourself).Written 30 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They are scammers. Most stuff can be bought for about half of asking price. Have fun dealing with the merchants. They expect it. Most stuff could probably be bought cheaper at Walmart but what’s the fun if that?Written 31 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SarahWang0609Fairfax, VA24 contributionsI did a bit research online and decided to go to mecado 23 instead of 28. The hotel staff and taxi driver both recommended mercado 28 as it's bigger and more to see. We did not regret the decision to go to mercado 23. It is truly close to local life and the vendors in the market were friendly and you won't experience aggressive sales. The souvinir prices are very reasonable and most of the items have price tags so you won't have to haggle. The only thing to keep in mind is to bring enough pesos! Most shops here are cash only.Written 29 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- NewfiePupLoverDes Moines, IA296 contributionsGreat new outdoor mall area with lots of shops, restaurants & bars including an IMAX theater. Most of the stores in the mall can be found elsewhere in the Cancun area - at Plaza de Isla (La Isla Shopping), for example. But, the stores here are new, larger, appear to have more variety and more upscale stuff; not just tourist junk. The area is well designed with lots of escalators to move you upstairs and downstairs, and is just a nice place to walk around even if you don't want to shop. There are quite a few good restaurants and bars on the marina side of the facility - some very upscale, and others more on the pizza & beer side of things. The location is very nice to see; the marina with beautiful boats, the new unique architecture of many of the surrounding buildings and hotels. You can get here just by taking the bus from anywhere along the primary road in the hotel zone, or if you have a car the parking is easy, close and cheap. You walk directly from the parking into the various sections of the shopping area.Written 20 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vanessa PCalgary, Canada1,328 contributionsThis is an average outlet full of American brands. It is a place for shopping, but it has interesting restaurant and cafes. - Shawn LPhiladelphia, PA380 contributionsLuxury Avenue is located by Plaza Kukulcán. They have many luxury brands such as Rolex, CH Caroline Herrera, Fendi, Bvlgari, Burberry, Cartier, Montblack, Salvatore Ferragamo etc. The only negative is there are plenty of sales people and they jump on you almost immediately and it makes it uncomfortable while trying to shop and being followed around.Written 17 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Debra HPhiladelphia, PA117 contributionsNice mall with high end designer stores. I wish I could afford to shop at one of them. Maybe one day… it was enjoyable to just look through the windows. I was surprised to see the heavily armed guards that carried tech 9s! Do these stores get robbed? The Japanese restaurant is beautiful!Written 23 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- lexi71Stoke-on-Trent, UK681 contributionsThis shopping centre is very good for souvenirs but not very good for anything else. The pharmacist didn’t have the medication that I needed. Try elsewhere.Written 29 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- thisgirl_GrayLos Angeles, CA2,323 contributionsThis is a good place to buy souvenirs like key chains, mugs, tshirts and other miscellaneous items people tend to buy on vacation. There are a lot of individual shops but they all pretty much sell the same cheap stuff.Written 30 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cnatwomanFremont, California13 contributionsIt is an interesting outdoor mall. Not a lot of air conditioning, even in the restaurants. Expensive somewhat for the typical tourist souvenirs. Hard Rock Cafe and Chili’s are just so so.Written 24 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Joe L18 contributionsGood walmart for all your living and eating needs, but not for tourist trinkets, so if you think you will find a lot of stuff to buy to take home as souveniers we found that lacking. In our case, we left w/o buying anything as we were looking for souvenirs and t-shirts.Written 13 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Harrington’s ukBournemouth, UK158 contributionsVisited whilst staying in Cancun, prices were more expensive than back home in the UK so no bargins. Food court was a major challange as I am coeliac and was unable to find anything I could eat and gave up in the end. Wide veriaty of shops to wander round very clean and a nice place to visit.Written 11 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - lunasol8Japan6 contributionsGaleria Balance Cancun is a small art gallery located in the Plaza Caracol shopping mall in the center of the Hotel Zone. You can find interesting contemporary art of various artists from Cancun, Mexico and other Caribbean countries.
It's recommended if you are looking for cultural activities in Cancun, or just to spend time for a rainy afternoon. Staff are very kind.Written 15 October 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They have over 2,250 stores in Mexico, the USA, the UK, Brazil, Spain and 90 other countries. They were founded in 1975. This particular shop is located in the La Isla Shopping Village in the Zona Hotelera in Cancun.
The store is modern and well-stocked. We came in because the first night in Cancun was a bit chilly, so my wife wanted to buy a sweater or jacket. The salesperson wasn’t very helpful, as he told my wife that they had none, since they had put the winter clothes away. We no sooner turned around than we saw a beautiful sweater that was exactly what my wife was looking for. The price was reasonable too. Despite the unhelpful salesperson, we got what we were after and were out the door and back to our holiday.Written 26 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
