What travellers are saying
- Vivek AAustin, Texas18 contributionsBeautiful gardens, lovely views and a solid castle that rivals European castles in their grandeur though it is not as big as the bigger castles in Europe (which is a good thing for some)!Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Juja80301Boulder, CO121 contributionsI was raised Catholic but no longer practice. Still you needn't be religious to find that this site is worth the trip and an hour or two of your time. It's really a huge complex. The new basilica houses the image of the virgin, which is located behind the altar. Visit all of the churches/chapels to get the complete picture and to enjoy the views of the city.Written 17 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Carlos RMexico City, Mexico262 contributionsIf you want to enjoy typical mexican food, besides tacos, you can try "tostadas" at the food market in Coyoacán, Mexico City.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DzenySarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina589 contributionsThe museum is awesome! So many things to see in it, it took us a few hours.
A lot of people don't visit Templo Mayor because they think they saw everything just by walking around it, but they are so wrong.
Don't miss the museum!Written 25 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We chose to get bikes at our hotel and ride through the city on a Sunday morning. The city closes Paseo de la Reforma and some side streets on Sundays between 8:00am and 2:00pm so people can ride bikes, run, walk, rollerblade, etc. through the city. It's an awesome opportunity to get out and move up and down the street. We got our bikes at 8:30am and rode until about 10:00am, because we had a walking food tour in Polanco at 11:00. We were so glad we did the bike ride! We stopped and took pictures at several landmarks and even of some street vendors along the way. It's a beautiful way to get your bearings in the city. Highly recommend!Written 19 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- bryanmantezoniHouston, TX2,861 contributionsGreat cathedral worth to visit when around zocalo, as Dec 2023 the main front door is closed but you can enter and admire the beautiful status inside thru the side doors open early mornings. - Kelly MCharlotte, NC331 contributionsEl Zocalo is also known as Plaza de la Constitución, and is a must-see when you visit. It is bordered by the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace, Federal District buildings, and the Old Portal de Mercaderes. It is considered the main square in the city. In the center is a glorious, gigantic Mexican flag, and the square is a gathering place for Mexicans. Many celebrations and parades are held here and have been held here for centuries, as it dates back to the 16th century. We enjoyed getting photos, as this is definitely an important landmark in the city. Highly recommend as a must-see in Mexico City.Written 19 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- heeter_lyn23British Columbia, Canada569 contributionsStunning architecture located in the city centre, pink in colour, reminded me of a wedding cake. This iconic symbol is perfectly suited for this incredible, beautiful city. A must see day or night.Written 15 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Gustavo SMexico City, Mexico11 contributionsExtremely impressive and 100% worth visiting. In my opinion, more interesting and beautiful than the cathedral itself.Written 17 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jamusabaFlorida381 contributionsPerhaps the most important tourist site in Mexico. Great place to learn all about Mexico's colonial and indigenous history and see the most important government buildings, museums and national opera house. I devoted 2 whole days which was barely enough.Written 15 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ksufan88Wichita, KS5,459 contributionsThis attraction is free to visit since it is still used as the main post office in Mexico City. The building is very attractive on the outside but even more impressive on the inside. The staircase is a marvel of construction, but it is off-limits to the public.Written 25 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JemkhMelbourne, Australia627 contributionsYou’re going to walk right past this cathedral if you’re around the heart of town. I recommend visiting although it’s not the most impressive in all of Mexico but still worth seeing!Written 19 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our hotel was just around the corner from this park and we strolled through there most nights as it was always lively and welcoming. Mariachi bands, families, tourists, a nice mix.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
