*This tour involves a lot of waiting. If you don’t want to waste your time, you should just opt to do all the activities listed or else you’ll have to sit and wait until other people who’ve signed up to do other activities finish.
Our trip started off with a ‘driver’ picking us up from our hotel in Krabi Town at 7:45am. It was a little confusing because our hotel called it a ‘taxi’ so we were a little sceptical to get into it. After making a quick phone call, the tour company confirmed that the car was indeed meant for us.
We headed to their main office, boarded a company minivan and then proceeded to pick up other passengers who lived around the Ao Nang area. Once everyone was picked up, we headed towards Songprak River. On the way there, we stopped at a Monkey Temple where we were given about 30 minutes of free time. You could walk around the temple, feed some monkeys, use the washroom, grab a snack or do whatever you want. Afterwards, we finished our journey up to river where we promptly began our 5km white water rafting journey. It felt a little rushed because we had to leave our belongings in the car and there was no time to take pictures of the river, which was quite beautiful.
We were given life jackets and helmets and then we headed to our rafts along with 2 rafting guides. We had an extremely fun time going down the river and we regret not choosing to do the 7km option. After rafting, a different van picked us up and transported us to the lunch location (we also had to go pick-up 2 people who chose the 7km rafting option and this took an extra ~20-30 minutes).
The lunch, aside from the white water rafting, was probably my favourite part of the tour. It was beautifully laid out and allowed my friend and I to enjoy some authentic Thai cuisine. Once we finished eating, some people went ahead to do 30-minutes or 1-hour of ATV while we just sat and waited. Overall, this tour gave us a good experience in the sense that we were able to try rafting, interact with monkeys and enjoy some delicious food. The only thing, however, is that you should be prepared for a lot of waiting and driving around in not one but several different minivans.
