The snorkelling at Pigeon Island was one of the highlights of the holiday for me.

I preferred the smaller beach where the water taxi from Rodney Bay (US $15 return) drops you off. The larger beach is noisier due to the nearby Sandals resort and is sometimes out of bounds as booked by cruise ships for their passengers sole use.

Snorkelling around the rocks from one bay to the next brought an amazing array and numbers of fish - from 3ft pipe fish, parrotfish, reef squid, goatfish, peacock flounder, to large eels to name a few. One day literally thousands of one fish type swam by me!

Barring the lady who takes your entrance money, who really needs some urgent customer service training (no smile, welcome, please or thank you), all other staff were friendly and very welcoming, especially the lovely Joanna who sorted the
    sun lounger for me.

A friend and I went to Signal Point (steep, wooden stairs at the end not for the faint-hearted!) then declined the steep, slippery track to Fort Rodney as it was just too hot to contemplate.

Lovely area that I’d highly recommend.

The Saint Lucia National Trust takes care of every detail that helps protect the natural habitat of the endemic species and other fauna found on this small island off the south east coast of Saint Lucia. It also takes care that you have informative and lively guides, a safe journey by sea to and from the island and from the shore to the highest point (c.400 ft?) and back to the beach for a swim. A unique place well worth the planning in advance to visit! Bring water/juice, photography gear, leave nothing physical behind and take away memories of a fabulous experience of conservation in practice and amazing views!

Excellent overnight camping visit with Chino. He set up the shelter and cooked dinner over a campfire. No mosquitos as there is a breeze the whole night. He will take you there on his boat. Your can find on on IG. @420floating

Hotels sell Fregate island to you as a "trip" in actuality it is a basic nature reserve with very little to see. Facilities are basic and very few animals.
I would not recommend the long trop to be honest
