What travellers are saying
- Linda M1 contributionWe booked the 3.30 hotel pick up which was great and on time and ideal for some lovely sunset photos take by our guides who were really helpful and friendly and wanted to make sure we had a good time. We were in just a small group of 4 which was ideal. Brilliant experience riding on the beach, would definitely recommend.Written 23 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - X4032OYpaulaf2 contributionsAn experience we will remember for a lifetime. The horses, the ride, the scenery, and Gabi herself made this ride very special. Swimming in the river with the horses was incredible for my teen daughter. We will be back to do the ocean ride next time. I highly recommend.Written 3 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AMG44xLiverpool, UK17 contributionsWe got picked up from our resort and it was around a 50 minute journey to the ranch.
There was a short safety briefing, one of their staff recommended that we put all our phones into lockers as he alleged the previous week 5 phones were lost in the sea. This is just because of an ulterior motive to sell their own photos at the end of the tour.
As soon as you get to the beach you stop for about 20 minutes for them to take photos but they don't let you off the horse to take your own. There is a leisurely ride along the beach. As you start to reach the half way point the beach and land scape starts to become full of rubbish / pollution. You'd think the hosts would put some of their profit back into the community to tackle this issue.
You stop at a small pond/ lake for 10 minutes where a guy sells coconuts then ride back to their ranch. I noticed as soon as people tried to take photos or videos the staff would make the horses speed up to try and prevent any photo taking.
On the way back the staff made the horse gallop with different people in the group. Other than the staff not wanting you to take photos they were friendly. The horses looked in good health too.
When we got back to the ranch they separated the groups to offer a price for the photos, a fridge magnet and a bottle of local alcohol. The total was $135. We don't drink so didn't want the alcohol and their price for the photos and fridge magnet came down to $80. Don't know how they could justify $55 for a small bottle of alcohol that is only $15 in the hotel shop (this was for two people, prices differed for different groups).
I really enjoyed the horse back experience but would only recommend this trip if you'e never done horse back riding before and are happy to pay an extortionate price for some photos. If it wasn't for that I would probably return in the future.
Would give 3 and a half stars but settled with 4.Written 2 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - kris K2 contributionsHalf a day in total including transport. Horses are well behaved and well treated by staff. Guides were awesome and friendly and spoke many languages. They give you instructions before you get on the horse. The excursion begins with a brief ecological tour, showing you local plants and varieties of trees. Following this you have about a 45 minute walk with some trotting to the beach. Then you have a brief break with fruit and water. Then each person has a turn going into the ocean, accompanied by a guide. Afterwards we walk back to the stables. The tour ends with a brief description of the game of Polo given that we are at a Polo stable. Extremely enjoyable experience would recommend.!! I have my own horse and ride frequently. This was still very enjoyable for me and the ocean swim was a blast. Would not recommend the swim if you are in anyway frightened, or not strong given that you have to hang on tightly. Would also recommend you wear pants and solid shoes to prevent bruising.Written 19 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BarnistaAtlanta, GA112 contributionsThis excursion exceeded our expectations. If you want to ride on the beach and customize your experience, this is the rude for you! Can be more than the follow the leader nose to tail pony ride based on experience.
Staying at a near by house with a large group of friends, most of whom are accomplished equestrians, we decided we had to ride on the beach while in PC. On first arrival, the grounds were well maintained, beautiful landscaped, and evident this center does more with horses than just trail rides (jump courses, round lunging pens, dressage). It is also situated near ecological attractions within walking distance (honey, animals, trails) which we were free to explore after the ride.
Dont let your first impression of the trail horses fool you! Ours was lack luster-petite ponies and bike helmets, worn western trail tack=underwhelmed. Many of us own and ride regularly and were thinking this would be the equivalent of a fair ride or summer camp trip. These petite ponies are stout steeds! What turned this adventure into an experience of a life time was the ability to ride, and race ponies up and down the deserted, pristine beaches and ride through the water. Our guides adjusted our trip to our experience level which was the game changer. The first part of the trail was through a small rocky, covered path that led to the abandoned Oscar De La Renta resort, which is beautiful and disarming at the same time. At times you are on a trail, roadside, and the beach.
While riding through the beaches and into the ocean seems to be a regular part of this excursion, I would assume racing on the beach to be skill specific, as it should be. Discuss possibilities with your guide-they aim to please! We hadn't planned on this experience is a part of our trip, so many did not have long pants or even close toed shoes and that was not a problem.
If your looking for a custom ride on the beach with the ability to tailor your experience to ability, this is it! For many if us, this WAS the highlight of our trip, and thats saying something!
Price-around $50 USD Time-2hrsish. We booked through an agency that came to our house and transportation was provided through this service.Written 3 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The amount of effort and attentiveness was amazing and all the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. The horses were beautiful and well looked after. Due to the damage from the hurricane we were unable to go to the natural swimming pool however we did not feel we missed out due to the effort made by Christ. The opportunity to not only ride but swim with horses was the best experience and I would highly recommended this to anyone!Written 12 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jennifer KNew York City, NY10 contributionsYou don't need to know how to ride a horse to enjoy this. The tour guides will take pictures with your cameras for you. Keep your legs covered as much as you can because sometimes the horses ride closely together and you may scrape your knees. Also, be generous with the bug repellant and sunblock. This is a great way to tour the area. There is a gift shop at the end of the tour (cash only).Written 6 August 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Noel Regina C28 contributionsThe jeep safari was the highlight of our trip to the Dominican Republic. I did a lot of research before booking because I was looking for a unique experience that took us away from touristy areas. I also wanted to pack in as many activities into one tour so that we wouldn’t have to plan multiple excursions. It truly is a private tour experience with no crowds and overcrowded buses. We can’t stop talking about what a great day we had. We started the day at a beautiful beach with amazing views. The photographer with the tour took photos of us on the beach and accompanied us to take photos throughout the day so we didn’t have to worry about having our cameras out while enjoying all of the amazing experiences. Next we were given a keep to drive and we followed our guide through the hills to a small farm. They gave us harnesses and helmets for zip lining. This was our first time going on a zip line and it was a series of 5 lines around the property. Not too scary but perfect for a first timer and would be fine for children. Next we did horseback riding with horses located on the farm. It was about 20 minutes around the property and crossed the river twice. Again, perfect for first timers and people not accustomed to riding horses. We loved the pace and length. Next ,we got back in the jeep to drive to another property. Seeing the small villages, houses and shops along the way gave us a small glimpse at typical life in the D.R. The next property was a farm owned by Christian. Our tour guides educated us about typical plant species found on the island. We got to eat a fresh star fruit, vinegrillo, and pick fresh cinnamon sticks. Next, we had a typical Dominican meal prepared fresh by the women on the farm. The chicken was especially tasty and all was very filling. Then our guides taught us about the process of making coffee and cocoa. We got to taste cocoa beans fresh off the tree- we had no idea they started out in such large pods and were white and slimy. We saw how the coffee and cocoa beans are roasted and then got to grind them. The best part was tasting the finished product. A truly unique and fantastic experience that will stay with us indefinitely. We got to enjoy the coffee and hot chocolate while taking in the amazing views and getting to pet some pigs. The final stop was a cigar factory were we got to roll our own cigars and take them home as a souvenir. There is a shop on site to purchase cigars, coffee, cocoa and other locally made products. I can’t say enough about how excellent our tour guides were and they made sure to answer all of our questions and make sure we got everything we wanted out of the tour. If you come to the D.R. make sure you book a jeep safari with Just safari. You won’t regret it!Written 16 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- shellkohlSaint Louis, MO3 contributionsJonathan and group were top notch. Not sure why everyone pays double to see monkeys and do other adventures. This tour was amazing for our whole family and they personalized every aspect of it. Very affordable and got to see tons of different animals, adventures, and learned a lot about the culture.Written 3 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Zara Q1 contributionWe had so much fun during our trip to La Hacienda!!! It is a must do if you are visiting Punta Cana. There is so much to do and see. Ziplining had beautiful sites and was very thrilling. The buggy ride was also super fun and a must do. Our guide, Eddy was amazing and he made our experience very fun and unique. He took amazing photos of our whole family throughout our trip. They came out better than we have ever taken. He also made sure we were comfortable at each excursion and provided us with snacks and water as we needed. The buffet lunch was delicious and it was fun to walk around after and see the beautiful area.
Thank you so much Eddy! You made our trip unforgettable.Written 27 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We got exactly this and it exceeded every expectation.
First of all, Arturo communicated promptly and kindly to every inquiry I had. Booking and making the pick up arrangements was no problem at all. He picked us up promptly and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. We had such a great time chatting with Arturo on the car ride over, he’s very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor!
The ride itself was BEAUTIFUL. I do not have the words to describe it really. We had a view of the mountains the whole time and it was so nice to be away from the beaches for a little while. We stopped for a bit in the mountains at a spot with a beautiful vista while the horses took a rest.
After the ride, we had an incredible lunch made by a local lady. Dominican beans and rice, meatballs, fried plantains- wow. It was DELICIOUS.
The whole experience felt so authentic and genuine, everyone we met was so wonderful. The price of the whole experience is 100% worth it and honestly, I probably would have paid more. I cannot recommend this enough!!Written 26 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The ride was long enough and they will allow for you to ride according to your comfort level, slow or fast. The tour goes through the jungle, beach and street. I likes the mixed terrain. Well worth the costs. Everyone was so nice and accommodating.Written 15 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
