Dominican Republic is renowned for its beautiful and clean beaches, and I got to experience it firsthand for the first time. I will definitely consider going back there again.

Good trip with a lot of travelling though well worth it! Got pick up by Van, then transfer to a coach, then the speedboat took us to Natural swimming pool they called it which let you swam in shallow water in the middle of the sea, then to Saona where you laze around for about 2-3 hours including a lunch buffet. Saona is picturesque however when you get into the water be careful of the rocks. Travelled on the way back in catamaran where there's an open bar with nice music and some dancing, also managed to spot some dolphins

Beautiful spot of nature in the middle of the city. Easy access with Uber. You need to purchase tickets online in advance. We did not hire a guide. Make sure to pack water, the heat and humidity is extremely high at the bottom.

We loved swimming with the dolphins at Ocean World. We also had a lunch at their restaurant. The dolphins were amazing. We walked around Ocean World and saw fish. We were able to see Love Birds in the sanctuary and loved those!

Manuel Rodriguez of Transekur picked us up on time from Punta Cana airport and took us to our hotel. He provided refreshments, spoke about the local businesses, economy and other trivia to acquaint us with the area. Kudos to Manuel for a safe and informative trip.

We did this excursion through our cruise ship. We had a great time! Other reviews had me nervous that it wouldn’t be a great day, but it was a perfect day! Ferries picked us up in port and shuttled us to the dock at Catalina Island. The staff were waiting for us and quickly got our chairs and umbrellas set up for us. Facilities were good. There is a nature trail with signage showing what animals inhabit the island. The beach is beautiful and clean. There wasn’t food available, but we knew that before we came and packed accordingly. We would definitely do this again!

It is well worth the effort it takes to drive to this beach located off the main road towards Las Galeras in Samana Province, Dominican Republic. Look for the sign on the left if you're coming from Samana immediately after you pass the Texaco station (a great place for bathroom pit stops and snacks). There are two parts to this beach. You want to turn RIGHT. If you get to the end of the road and turn left, you will find the part of the beach more developed and heavily used by locals.

Turn right, and slowly wind your way down the beach. Enjoy the sheer natural beauty as you drive through the palm-tree lined road in the sand. This gorgeous beach is typically uncrowded, and has a small, rustic restaurant which serves delicious food including chicken and traditional fried whole fish. You must try the pescado entero frito while in the D.R.! If you come across someone selling pan de coco (Dominican coconut bread) try that, too, especially if it’s still warm.

This beach has toilets, but you are better off stopping at the Texaco station first. Some of the beach chairs are in better shape than others, but expect to pay about 100 pesos (two bucks) to use each one. Bring towels and a cooler, and plenty of sunscreen. For those not used to tropical vacations, you can get a trip-ruining sunburn in about fifteen minutes of unprotected direct sun.

Yes, the vendors can be aggressive but please remember this is how they feed their families, so don’t be cheap if you are buying something. A simple, “No, gracias,” should keep them moving.

If you are visiting Las Galeras, Las Terrenas, Samana Town, or staying anywhere on Samana Province, this beach is an absolute must-see.

We're locals, and we ask that you please do us and your fellow visitors a favor: skip the obnoxious ATV tour of this beach. This is the last place anyone should ever drive an ATV. Why spoil the tranquility for someone else with a loud, stinky, polluting vehicle? Have some consideration for nature, too. Thank you.

I really liked Sosua Beach. The water was gorgeously blue, and the scenery was breathtaking. When it comes to hotels, there is a lot to choose from ranging from some that are pretty close to the beach to some that are a little farther away. As for the restaurants along the beach, they didn’t seem to offer much vegetarian options, and I rarely saw running water or stoves. I would recommend walking around the city and eating at one of those restaurants even if they might be a little further away from the beach. There were many gift shops, and there seemed to be a lot of activities to do such as diving and boat rentals. Overall, Sosua was a pretty nice beach for a nice vacation.

    One of the most beautiful beaches that I have been to. It's an 14 minute drive with atvs from Playa Las Ballenas. It was very quiet and desolate. We didn't see any places to get food or drinks; except for this one local joint with a sign on a palm tree advertising fish, lobster, shrimp, beer and piña coladas ( avoid at all costs }

Very nice swimming with only small waves and very clean water. You can see lots of fishes in the shallow water.

The hustling began at the falls by our young man horse guide. He started harassing him for a tip - demanding to know how much we would give him. My husband, who lived in Panama previously- knew how to shut him down. Unfortunately my guide began to do the same while we were close to end. Saying they were volunteers and to give them a $25 dollar tip each. We gave them a tip, around $14 for the two of them. Plenty considering the circumstances. They were thankless, unappreciative souls for sure. Don't let them intimidate you - $5 max is more than plenty.

I did feel a lack of consciousness with how they treat the horses... However, the path was extremely muddy so I was glad we had them. For the newbies, the ride can be a bit scary at times - its wet and alot of up and down. It seemed the horse was slipping a bit. I had to let go and trust him. Poor horses though!

Also, there was a small black and white cat on the top near the park entrance - clearly starving and being ignored by the workers there. Sad. I wish I had a can of cat food or something he could have eaten.

These things disturbed me, but overall the falls were beautiful to see. Don't let these people intimidate you if you are a tourist. They see you as a big walking $ sign- dont care about anything else.

We visited Mount Isabel de Torres as part of a cruiseline excursion, so we took a small bus from Puerto Plata up to the top. It was foggy and drizzled rain for half the time we were in the park but that didn't dampen our enthusiasm for the beautiful flowers and plants along the paths in this well-kept park. We were able to catch a glimpse of the town from where the cable cars usually disembark, and the fog lifted enough for us to snap a picture of the Christ statue.

There are several paths to walk which when it is wet can be a little bit treacherous, but they do have handrails and steps to assist.
