- Vitomir P11 contributionsBeautifull Beach and my girlfriend and I have enjoyed everything. Sea, send, sky. - Sasha MSydney, Australia554 contributionsOld Havana is a visual feast … the old vintage cars blend with the old colonial buildings. Some are restored beautifully but many are in need of repairs … buildings and cars. Don’t be shocked by the peeling paint, mould and rubble … it just adds to the character and resilience of the place. There are challenges in the city and finding western style food grocery shops is not easy … they look like little “hole in the wall” outlets, with limited stock and variety. It seemed like lots of fresh food is bought from carts … Shortages of items is common, especially away from the tourist streets. There are loads of places to eat, but prices vary … check menus before committing. Cocktails however are cheap by western standard … $2 US mojito, Cuba libra, etc! Cuba is raw and has signs of decades long sanctions, but the history and culture is undeniably strong. Lots of monuments worth checking and be prepared for museum closures. The electricity and funding shortages means some places may be unavailable. Money is also something to be mindful of … most places accept Cuban pesos and US Dollars … check exchange rate in restaurants before ordering. Bank rates are the lowest but restaurants often give good rates. Many will approach you in the street to change money … be wary of these. Seek help from your accommodation hosts they will be able to help with exchanging currency.Written 25 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mandie-CatOttawa, Canada76 contributionsIt was absolutely beautiful! Of course, the bar was expensive, but getting a pinã colada in a fresh pineapple was definitely a cool experience to do at least once in my life. If you go to the restaurant, I recommend trying the "banana chips"! It's sliced plantain fried up and sprinkled with salt. It's not gourmet or elegant. It's just really good! It's definitely worth the visit!Written 21 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

If you are visiting Havana then you definitely need to visit the Vinales Valleys, 2-3 hours from Havana.
We booked this through our Casa - Blanc Blue 1924 and the host Martha also came along to ensure we had the best experience. She was our personal guide.
Vinales has so much to see, I do recommend staying here for a couple of nights to make the most of the nature.
Vinales has beautiful mountains where you find the most natural organic honey. Even the honey in Viñales is special, made by a kind of bees that have their beehive underground. It isn't possible to domesticate these bees, and apparently they are unique from that area.
We visited a tobacco plantation here we saw how tobacco is grown, dried and then rolled into cigars. I do strongly recommend purchasing cigars from the plantations, not only are they authentic but also you are helping the locals, the government takes 90% of tobacco sales leaving the farmers with just 10% The honey collected from the mountains is also used to seal the cigars.
I don't think it's worth paying to see the prehistoric wall, our driver found us a spot to get a good look at the wall without entering, I'm glad we did this, simply because it's just a big painting on the wall of one of the Mogotes, with Evolution as a theme, from the Big Bang until the Human being. It is interesting for a few photos, which we took from afar, but nothing else.
We took a boat road through a cave, and then had traditional Cuban lunch whilst listening to a live salsa singer. The fresh sugar cane juice took me back to visiting India in my childhood.Written 28 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The food was great !
The selection of drinks at the main bar were excellent!!
Live entertainment every night, even during the day!
The only thing I could say differently is that the rooms could use some upgrading like removing the bathtubs and replacing them with standup showers. There were no shoes at night only live bands. We are planning to go back next February!!!Written 11 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Doina C142 contributionsAlthough I expected it to be crowded, given its celebrity, I was amazed when I saw that it is very little frequented. I saw more of the old, emblematic cars of Cuba and the double-decker buses. You should know that even the double-decker buses were not crowded. Just a few tourists. And I'll tell you another secret: it's not worth taking such a bus. It is expensive (20 usd per person) and stops very rarely. If you know exactly what you want to visit, it is better to take a taxi to take you from one place to another and it will be much cheaper.Written 17 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Doina C142 contributionsYes. It really has a different air from old Havana because I felt like I was in any other European city in Italy or Spain. The square is beautiful, clean with works of art on display. There is also the church of Saint Francisco de Asis where there was a rehearsal.Written 17 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dragana K75 contributionsBeautiful Square (Plaza) - one of the 4 main Plazas of Havana. Stunning architecture, smaĺl magical streets that lead you to it and from it. Cathedral is beautiful, more impressive outside than inside. Plaza in gerenal is made in colonial style. The square/Plaza you'll see those old ladies in costumes and smoking Tobaco, which are hilarious and beautiful. They charge taking photos with them, how much you can give (optional) and also offer fortune telling, future reading the cards, for 10 dolars/euros. That was so fun, they are kind too! Close by are many good restaurants and bars.Written 5 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John E48 contributionsWe went to Playa Santa Maria del Mar which is very popular among locals. We purposely picked a Sunday knowing it would be somewhat crowded with families and others from the area. Great cultural experience. There was some loud music and trash (most of which was picked up upon leaving). The beach is stunning with dunes and great vegetation. There was also a shack that had the freshest grilled snapper that I had during my stay in Cuba.Written 8 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
