What travellers are saying
- tuprof_billBaltimore, Maryland29 contributions“The most enchanted place on earth”.. . perhaps says it too modestly. Of all the famous buildings, all the vistas, all the locations and times I’ve muttered “wow”, this place ranks with the best of them. My vocabulary is too limited to attempt description. If you’re in Barbados, go. Skip a beach day, forget about a rum tour (ok, you might be able to do both in a day, but start here). If you haven’t been to Barbados, then start planning now and make sure this place is in your itinerary. There is a special sense of serenity and unhurriedness here (how many vacation sites can you say that about?). From the moment I entered I felt I was going at my own pace. Tranquility is inherent in its design and operation. Many beautiful spaces to stop, sit, reflect/admire. The staff is welcoming and patient. It’s almost like a fancy spa (and you don’t even take off your clothes).
Buddha statues are abundant here; something that works whatever spirituality team you play for. I’m attaching one pic, which sort of says it all for me.Written 12 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Unfortunately there are a lot of people pestering you to buy trinkets, boat rides and massages!Written 10 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jarod B1 contributionDid the cave tour and ziplines. I forget the name of our cave guides but they were awesome! Our zipline guides we absolutely wonderful! Corey and Adrian were their names. Our niece was nervous and they made her experience so great! They both had a great sense of humor. I highly reccomend the zipline tour if you come to visit the caves. We had lunch at the restaurant afterwards which was also top notch!Written 15 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - QueenBeeBlackieToronto, Canada1 contributionLaurisha* was our guide. She did an excellent tour for us. She was fun and engaging. The tour was very interactive. Thoroughly enjoyed it! - Elizabeth G8 contributionsOistins Fish Fry was entertaining. We went on a Friday night and ate at Chillin n Grillin as suggested by our Taxi driver. The meal was good. The place is very lively. Several entertainers were going in different areas. And some arts and crafts were for sale. A nice place to go for dinner and drinks when in Barbados.Written 11 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rebecca SBedale, UK48 contributionsAbsolutely beautiful place. Dramatic scenery and dramatic sea. Alittle overwhelming on the sea front and we did not choose to swim. Very hardcore!
Some lovely restaurants but need to plan ahead as everything closes Sunday/ Monday. Or isn’t open at all . Some wonderful places such as community centre at the top of the hill, the Round House and The Atlantis .
Shop before you get here.
Expect a lot of potholes.
Very quiet except the roar of the sea.
A lot less people than the West coast which is lovely but you do need a car or you’ll be waiting a long time. Local buses remind me of the song - Bat out of Hell!Written 14 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our tour guide was excellent and the run tasting unexpected. Simon the owner was very friendly and welcoming. The price seemed high before we arrived but once we left we changed our opinion. - TinyTownQueenQuinlan, TX323 contributionsThis is a once in a lifetime experience to get in the water in the caves and explore the beautiful ocean view passages. - Pamela OUnited Kingdom17 contributionsWe stayed at the hotel opposite Dover Beach,, which is lovely. The beach is fairly clean and the sea is clear and warm. It’s fairly family friendly with water sports options. Sunbeds & parasols are available from US $5 (price may increase at peak times).Written 2 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nick MortonNorwich, UK20 contributionsWe visited as part of a two distillery tour and this was definitely the better one.
Good guide who knew her stuff. Lovely setting and definitely a relaxed wander around the distillery.
The sampling led by a lady full of Bajan exuberance who introduced us to a few rums. Found a new favourite rum!Written 10 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The sand drops off a bit sharply when you walk in but you can get some distance out before it is over our head. There is parking though on a busy day you’ll have trouble finding a spot. There are picnic tables available, lounges for rent and a pretty good toilet and changing area. You can hang in the shady area or on the sunnier beach. It’s a friendly and family-oriented beach.Written 26 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
