The museum detailed the history of the formation of the cave, the early explorers, the surrounding countryside (and sinkholes) , the settlers, then the development of the cave into a national park.
Besides the cave tours, the park offers camp sites to stay on, trails to walk, horseback riding, boating on the river, picnicking, fishing, swimming in park waters etc.

The fountain and statues are beautiful and the park is spotless.
Concerts are held in the park in summer months, plus there is one of the best restaurants in town right across the street, as well as some small shops and a coffee place.

The two car ferry across Green River from Dog Creek Park to Mammoth Cave is such fun and it saves you about 40 minutes of driving all the way around.
There is a cute little campgrounds on the Green River inside Mammouth National Park.
