Day - 1 Fly from Delhi to Bagdogra morning flight. Reach bagdogra @ 10.00 AM. Gangtok is 5-6 Hours road journey. Reach Gangtok at evening. Stroll on MG road. Which is very good. Evening is good to stroll on MG road. European like roads, dedicated Pedestrian lanes. We tried shuffle momos which were excellent.
Day - 2 Planned to go to Nathula But could not get permit so visit city tour, visit places by deciding own itinerary instead of following standard itinerary. We visited
Ranka Monastry. which is very good. Big moniastry, awesome views of surrounding mountains. As it is bit off from Main city. normally operators dont include in their itinerary. But going there was very much worth it
Banjhakri Falls. On the way from Ranka, Good falls, some activities can be done like sky track which we enjoy very much with kids
Gangtok Ropeway - We came to city and ropeway gives very good view of Mountains and city
Hanuman Tok and Ganesh Tok. - Excellent views of full range of Kanchenjunga, an get snack Dosa/ tea at Army run canteen at Hanuman Tok. which were very much needed.
Return back Hotel and Explore MG Road again in evening
Day - 3 We got our permit to visit Nathula and Changu lake / Tsongmo. Sperate permits required. You will get permit for nathula on previous evening. But for changu lake on same day at around 9.00. We left Hotel @ 9.00 AM. We got permit through Watsapp on the way. Permits are arranged by our taxi operator.
Nathula - Indo Chinese Border. Around 55 KMs / 2.30 Hrs. Don’t miss Ist and Last view point of Kanchenjunga during Nathula Journey during which lies around 15-20 KMs from city. We missed the view by thinking we will get such points further also. Road is very good. Area maintained by Army. Good to see how our army personal are serving us at such a high altitude. Keep heavy Woolens, Muffler, gloves, caps, socks umbrella etc. , even if you do not feel requirement at starting of Journey. There may be problem for breathleness for which persons were having Kapoor.
Changu / Tsongmo – On the way. Scenetic views. Must visit. In winter it comes frozen.
Baba Mandir - Managed by Army personal. Baba Mandir is usually part of the itinerary when visiting Nathula Pass and Tsongmo Lake.
Normally all three places can be covered in 7-8 Hours Max.
On reaching back hotel @ 4.PM. We went for Darjeeling same day as we were short of the day due to unavailability of Permit on previous day. Must required ID / Resd Proof Voter / Licence / Passport. Aadhaar not accepted. Passport photos are also needed.
Day 4 Morning Tiger hill – (10 km / 45 minutes)Wake up early. proceed for Tiger hill. Both sun rise and their reflection on surrounding Kanchenjunga and their changing colour is awesome. On reaching there are vendor selling tea etc. Return to Hotel
After Break fast visited Batasia loop having war memorial, Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda offers views of surrounding mountains, Himalayan zoo and Mountaineering institute inside zoo.
Day – 5 On last day on the way back to Bagdogra we took route through Mirik lake where we saw number of tea Garden specially Gopal Dhara such views were not available in city yesterday. Also saw pine forest, view point at Indo Nepal Border. Mirik lake nothing special can visit only if time.
Notes – I In Darjeeling you can see Kanchenjunga views from many places. From Roads. Hotel etc. in normal way
II There cab will be avaiable for visiting specific points only and may be changed on daily basis only even if you hire same operator for whole tour. Our Tour Operator provided good service and need not reminded any thing specially when we have to payment Advance as per practice over there

Went on a 6 nights custom made trip exploring Gangtok, Pelling and Darjeeling with my wife. It consisted of traveling to popular tourist destinations nearby the above mentioned places. Our trip advisor Rohan had it all handled and made a comfortable itinerary considering the long travel time between various locations. We couldn't go to Nathula Pass- “the most famous tourist attraction” due to sudden change in weather but our trip advisor Rohan immediately arranged for a alternative sightseeing. The stay at all the hotels was quite comfortable and services were prompt especially of the Gangtok and Darjeeling ones. All the rooms provided were mountain view rooms and beautiful snow covered mountains could be seen from the window. However the service of Pelling hotel was good but the room could be better. We had included dinner as well in our package and it proved to be great decision. The variety, quality and quantity of the meals was upto the mark. All the drivers during the trip were friendly and experienced and rode well on the hilly roads, which is not a easy task.

It was overall a great experience thanks to Rohan and team.

It is the excellent trip to North East India. Although it is very disappointed that I cannot get the permit to Sikkim. However, the Folk Tales reorganised the itinerary. We visit the Kaziranga National Park which is much much better than Royal Chitwan national Park. We can see the wild rhino, deer, buffolo in short distance. The living root bridges had their distinguishing feature and wisdom of tribes. The visit of Kongthong village is very fantastic and relax. The local guide and people are very friendly. The impression of North East India is peaceful, quite and clean. It is worth to have vacation in North East India. Thank you Gaurav to arrange this amazing trip. I would join the Folk Tales again to visit India soon.

The driver was professional and contacted us by phone as soon as our flight reached the airport. He met us just outside the airport, His white Toyota Inova SUV was parked at a short distance just outside the airport in the parking lot. He maneuvered his vehicle very carefully through meandering hilly roads to our hotel in Darjeeling. I will have no hesitation in recommending this service to other tourists using this service to travel to Darjeeling.

Lachen is a town in Mangan district a laid back and non descript hamlet from where is launched the most exciting excursion ,in the country ,to Kalapatthar where you find snow throughout the year and Chopta Valley which is flooded with flowers in the season the altitude of both the places is about 15000ft above MSL and then you visit the crowning glory of all The Gurudongmar lake situated at an altitude of 17800ft. Driving through the cold desert you may see wild ass wild yak, deer and owls , vultures and crow the dry cold wind blows at speeds of 30 to 40 kms per hour in the vicinity of the lake, a mystical lake which makes you dumbstruck when it unfolds itself in between snow clad mountains.
Lachung is another town 60kms from Lachen almost similar to Lachen from here you go to Yumthang valley which is populated with a host of rhodendron flowers in the season ,March to May , it’s altitude is about 12000 ft and further to it is zeropoint where you find snow throughout the year it’s altitude is about 15000ft .Beyond this point civilians are not allowed.
In nutshell it is one of the most pristine place to visit not only in the country but in the world too.
The accommodations are reasonably good and roads are motorable but you need tough vehicles.

This tour was absolutely outstanding: amazing views of Himalayan snow capped mountains, fascinating insights into culture and monasteries of Sikkim and great food. But especially good was our wonderful local guide Bipendra whose cheerfulness , many talents and knowledge made our tour fun. To make your trip even more special, I recommend staying in the luxurious 4 star Elgin hotels for a taste of Raj heritage. Also be aware that Sikkim requires extra passport photos and photocopy of passport.

Six of us went for a wonderful North Sikkim trip from 29th Sept to 6th Oct. We covered Lachen, Lachung, Tsongmo Lake, Nathula Pass, Baba Mandir, Gurudongmar Lake, Kalapatthar, Yumthang Valley, Zero Point over the 6 days. We barely escaped the flash flood of Chumthang by few hours. We had to extend our stay for a day due to closure of NH10. But returned safely to Kolkata via Bagdogra by an alternate route.

Our trip was planned and booked by our Agent Sumit Adak ( Mobile no:+91 90830 96975) , our Sumit Da, who with guided us throughout our trip and during the crisis like an elder brother.

Also must mention our Driver Ujjwal who was God sent to us. His driving skill, his behavior, and his amazing singing talent left us mesmerized.

Truly one of the best trips of our lives. Thank you God 🙏
