Worth the walk to visit. Not difficult to find. Stone foot prints ,"lead" the way.

Gives a great view of the beautiful town.

Comares is a tidy and attractive mountain village in the Axarquia. It is well worth a visit for the views alone as well as the remains of the Moorish fort. This attractive church is also worth a visit if you happen to be passing through. It is a sixteenth century construction and is a delightful example of the mudejar style. If you mange to get inside you will see the marvelous red bricks which give all mudejar churches a sense of style and place. They are scattered throughout Andalucia and many, such as this one, were built on top of the Muslim mezquitas (mosques) with the minarets converted into bell towers.

You will probably find the church closed except for services but you can get the key to enter from a lady who lives at the top of the street leading to the church. You don't need to know which house because she will almost certainly try to entice you in after a few seconds in order to purchase a variety of local produce, and very good it is too. She doesn't speak English but just mention the "iglesia" and do a bit of sign language and she will understand.

Had a great day with Leo in Comares.
Did the K1 via Ferrara with my girlfriend and the K3 without her. Finished with the zip line. Big fun. Loved the whole experience. Felt very safe under the direction of Leo. Really nice guy. Thoroughly recommend the whole thing.

We were a group of 8 walkers from Ireland.
We booked a 3 day walking holiday for 2019 and finally got to walk in 2022 ( the pandemic got in the way ).
We had a fantastic time with great walks, beautiful scenery ,good coffee and even better tapas !
Our three guides were very professional and looked after us with good grace and humour.
We could not have been looked after better by Phil ,Arvis and Julia.
Accommodation and food at the Hotel Arco del Sol was ideal for our requirements and we were very well looked after by Antonio and Juan and the rest of the staff.
If you are thinking of a walking holiday in Spain give Active Andalus a chance-you will be glad you did !

There are several beautiful hilltop villages not far from Malaga and our votes go to Comares. Extremely well kept, well mapped out, stunning view all around the village at every angle. It is a living-in community and the people here are definitely very proud of their heritage and their town. A walk around the village following the mapped route and footsteps on the floor is a must. A stop by the only bar in the village right the main square is a must also. Behind the slightly un-assumed front door, the restaurant offers a great advantage point for sun bath with its sun-flooded terrace at the back. The view is to die for. Highly recommended.

This was a stunning location to do yoga. Two sessions a day. It was so relaxing, very remote and with a beautiful hilltop village less than a mile away. We walked back. We're looking forward to going back some time soon.

This was a fantastic activity with the kids and really good fun for the adults as well. The kids aged 9-14 had a blast, even the teenager was happy to ride the donkey. No too much action, but a nice quiet outdoor experience with tons of information provided by Antonio, the owner of the donkeys.
