What travellers are saying
- BrettyMelbourne, Australia7 contributionsIf you need a few hours to recharge after pounding the pavements of Taipei this is a nice place for a break. Head for the lake. There is an abundance of bird life to watch and listen, plenty of turtles basking in the sun and fish swimming. A real pretty spot.Written 27 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,388 contributionsNational Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) is celebrating its centenary. Shih Da, as it is universally known, was founded in the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945) to train teachers. It has since expanded into other areas, and it is known for its exceptional academic standards. Shih Da alumni will instantly recognize the landmark neo-Gothic Administrative Building, which was completed in 1928.Written 15 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,388 contributionsFuzhoushan is a mountain in Taipei's suburbs. It's is a good place to get away from the city. Fuzhoushan is less crowded than Elephant Mountain, although the view is not as spectacular. - CalliopehkSingspore298 contributionsThis is a unique spot in Taipei if not in the world. It is a magazine library with over 20,000 magazines in many languages mainly around art, design, fashion, architecture. It's run by two lovely people, Spencer and Ken who will enthusiastically tell you about their business and their passion for allowing people a quiet space to relax and just sit and read without the distraction of wifi / telephones, coffee, food, snacks. You can buy a day membership or annual if you plan on visiting more often.
The building is also unique, as upstairs they have an acapella cafe with concerts and a beer tasting place. They are part of a community that want to appeal to all the senses.
Well worth a trip you won't be disappointed.Written 23 October 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,388 contributionsThe remains of the Taipei Prison Wall are worth seeing if you have an interest in Taiwan's modern history. The Taipei prison was built.in the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945) mainly to house political prisoners. Many Taiwanese rebelled again Japanese rule. and a large prison was necessary to house them. Many Taiwan people take resistance to Japanese rule seriously and the prison wall is seen as a memorial to Taiwan's struggle for independence. .Written 16 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JoJo L1 contributionI was a summer intern at the Red Room two years ago and even now I still consider it one of the most unique places I've ever set foot in. The Red Room offers a variety of events, such as open mic nights (dubbed "Stage Time and Wine") and curated galleries featuring a diverse roster of artists. There are activities for people of all ages, and the staff at the Red Room go out of their way to make sure their guests feel comfortable. If you have the opportunity to stop by the area, a visit to the Red Room space is highly recommended.Written 13 December 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
