Nice place to go for a walk and enjoy the scenario.

Plenty of restaurants nearby, and walking distance to the main road. Also there is a bus stop nearby.

visitors will visit four areas to complete the tasks related to crayon/coloring. All tasks are interesting for young kids. The body drawings part is challenging the parents instead of the kids.

The park area of Su-ao cold spring was unfortunately closed for renovation. But I could take a cold bath in a private cabin. It was NT$150 for 40 minutes. At the beginning, I felt the water cold, but in the course of time I got accustomed. Anyway it was a very special experience.

Water is clear and not so many people, good for taking photos and you may buy some snacks next to it. The rocks there are black and grey colours, so special but it is just a small coast. Don’t expect too much.

There has a famous temple, nice beach and fresh sea food. Maybe some people doesn't like to eat sea food. I recommend a food called fish ball. When I go there,I must buy a bag of fish ball.A beach is near by the fish port, and there has a trail. You can walk along that trail ,feel the sea wind and see the sights. The time that is sundown is a best time to do.If you feel tired, the destination had a Cafe.Summary, this is a place that can let you put down your pressure.

Qishingling means, literally, Seven Stars Peak in Chinese. The Seven Stars Peak stands for the seven stages in the climb, from the bottom to the top. The best lookout, over Su'ao Port and the mighty Pacific Ocean, is from Stage 6. Taken at a steady pace, it will take around 25 minutes, and another 10 minutes to the top, Stage 7, from which you will get a panoramic view of the Lanyang Plain and iconic Turtle Island. The trek is 4,750 meters long, with a maximum elevation of 270 meters. The trek is best taken steadily, with regular breaks to take a breather.

In January 2020 my wife and I included a 6 night Wendy Wu private tour of Taiwan as part of our 18 day Asian trip we arranged to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.

On day one of the tour, on the way to Taroko National Park from Taipei, we made a stop for lunch at Nanfang’ao Fishing Port in Su’ao Township, located in the south eastern corner of Yilan County on the north eastern coast of Taiwan and 75 km drive from Taipei.

As well as being a busy fishing port, Nanfang'ao is home to the Nantian Temple dedicated to Matsu (Mazu), goddess of the sea who is said to protect fishermen and sailors.

The Nantian Temple is a three story building. A climb up the steps to the top balcony of the temple is well worth the effort because from the top you get a magnificent vista of the fishing port in all its splendour. The temple roof adorned with dragon figures is so ornate and offers a wonderful foreground to the excellent view of the village and the harbour from this vantage point.

There is a feature statue of the Matsu on each of the three floors of the Temple. There is a statue of Matsu with a human face, a black –faced statue of Matsu made of jade and a gold Matsu statue made from 200 kilograms of gold. In addition to these three main statues there are also five Matsu statues in the Temple that originated from Meishou in mainland China. The Temple is beautifully presented and elaborately decorated.

We were fortunate that there were not many other people visiting the Temple during our visit there. This enabled us to take a closer look at the Temple's many enduring features.

We enjoyed a great seafood lunch in an unpretentious restaurant in one of the main streets, one of many that can be found in the village.

The tour of the Nantian Temple was an added bonus and was a pleasing and moving experience. In our view it is an attraction not to be missed if travellers happen to plan to visit or just happen to stumble upon Nanfang’ao Fishing Port in their travels.

According to our driver, certain time of the day they actually sell live fishes that just caught minutes ago. We missed that time but the sea food that we saw there were fresh nonetheless! It's interesting to see different types of local fishes that they eat and also some weird shellfish. Not a fish expect myself, the fish stall staffs were friendly and helped to recommend different seafood and ways of cooking them. At a very reasonable cost, we bought some and brought them to a sea food restaurant nearby that cooks for a reasonable cost. We had a very enjoyable meal!

Yi Lan in general has very little english in its culture, media, and presentation. I stopped by accident in the Baimi Clog Village and decided to grab a Latte at the coffee shop. Met this lady who didn't speak English and could not take my order, so she quickly Called Peggy Lin , who works on the Museum bring up and concept. She spoke perfect English and we had over a 1 hour conversation where she explained the history of Baimi and hopefully the resurrection of the museum to reflect its Rich history. It was one of the most memorable cups of coffee and conversation.
