What travellers are saying
- Mad W14 contributionsHowever, there are also stores near the train station that sell some of the greatest snacks (peanuts, etc.) that you should stock up on. and paths for trekking that have water falls. Like everywhere else, there are many of active temples. Convenient via rail or bus. History is disappearing quickly, much like the ancient battery plant that is now only a bus stop.Written 19 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - James MMonterrey, Mexico175 contributionsThere is some discrepancy as there are actually 5 waterfalls once you leave the parking lot, but they don't count the first one under the bridge, and the second appears to be seasonal when the rains come. The official 1st is viewed from the bridge and the official 2nd is viewed after climbing up some stairs (the Chinese inscribed stone calls it the 2nd). The stairs to the 3rd were under repair, but you can see it from the portico of the Sanctuary if you keep to the left when you go up the stairs. Definitely combine both sites- waterfall and sanctuary.Written 17 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dionysus38George Town, Malaysia169 contributionsBetween the street foods and the public hot springs, it's a good place to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend it.Written 12 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ccB9987NHNew York City, NY86 contributionsIt's an easy access from most of the hotels. There are lots of stores and eateries near by. Most interesting scene is that many people sit around a hot spring pool with their feet soak in the water and lots of Hot Spring Fishes nipping their dead skin from the feet.Written 10 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Google RinpocheJiaoxi, Yilan225 contributionsStudying at Fo Guang University right above the Linmei Shipan Trail, this is like my backyard, when I need some fresh air and water. This trail is built beside a golf course, so it is easy to go here if you take Green 11, and it is a relatively easy trail to walk. If not crowded, it takes around 45min to walk around this trail. Come enjoy Yilan’s fresh air and water!?!Written 14 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- James MMonterrey, Mexico175 contributionsIt was peaceful, views were great, loved the round church and shrine to the Madonna. The hike up was easy, especially if you go via the waterfall trail and then take the stairs up past the 2nd waterfall.Written 17 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Choonfong LeeJohor Bahru, Malaysia438 contributionsYilan Longtan Lake is set in a calm and quiet outskirt of Jiaoxi town where one can take a stroll enjoying the scenery and watching the carp and koi fish swim in the clear water. A few herons, ducks and swans also share the lake surrounded by greeneryWritten 22 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NewYorkToAsiaNew York City, NY31 contributionsAfter taking a hot spring, we decided to walk to Mary Leu’s and was fairly long walk. Fortunately, the trip was worth it. She has a fine gallery and a great next to it with beautiful crafts to sell.Written 16 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrew MWellington, New Zealand68 contributionsThis bathhouse rents out small, private hot spring baths (about NTD1100 for 90 minutes when you include the price of towel rental). You can buy beers/food downstairs as well. There's no view as such but if you're not comfortable with the more public baths then this is a very good way to enjoy a soak in a hot spring.
Bath filled very quickly and it was easy to control the temperature. We chose one of the undecorated/greyscale rooms which probably wasn't the right choice since it felt a bit dingy - probably better to go with the lighter artwork-covered rooms which cost a bit more.
Unfortunately it is a bit difficult to get more beer/food sent up after you arrive and start bathing.

I'm not very athletic, and the hike took me around 5 hours in total, roundtrip. The second half of the climb is more strenuous, not super steep but climbing continuously uphill for around 2km. The scenery at the top is rewarding. In good weather the Pacific Ocean and Turtle Island can be seen. Bring enough water and food, good hiking shoes, sun protection on sunny days, rainproof gear on rainy days. A hiking stick could be helpful.Written 14 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Prof_ADSingapore, Singapore48 contributionsThis is a less popular and hence less crowded option to the popular spots to the south. We dropped by here because we were staying nearby and wanted a short walk with our kids. The short path is a little rocky and the stairs are steep.Written 31 December 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
