What travellers are saying
- PaulSiowPetaling Jaya, Malaysia2,731 contributionsWe took the metro and walked here from the nearest station. The temple was rather quiet when we came, unlike the nearby Bao An temple which was crowded.Written 23 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia12,154 contributionsThe Museum of Contemporary Arts, Taipei (MOCA) is housed in a building dating from the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945). It was later the headquarters of the Taipei City Government. Contemporary art often involves installations and paintings that may seem odd.Written 28 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ooi Hong K24 contributionsThe temple may be small but it is a very important temple to the locals. When we dropped by, it was the fifteenth on the lunar calendar and the temple was teeming with temple goers. The temple also offered free blessed tea (wolfberries & red dates) for visitors on one side. Best time to visit is probably during May 13th (lunar calendar) which is the City God's Birthday.Written 19 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - liucy752Taipei, Taiwan1,108 contributionsThis is a lovely museum in a heritage building. Dating back to 1962, this building was formerly a Pharmacy. After being left unused for a long period, It was purchased by Ms. K.C. Chen (Eva Tan, 陳國慈律師), and was revitalized into a museum and cultural center.
It is a modernist style building, with terrazzo as the main construction method in the interior. There are exquisite terrazzo pictures on the floors. For example, "ginseng plants" on the first floor, "grapes" on the second floor, … etc.
The exhibition's themes cover the fields of "traditional living culture" and "old buildings". The current exhibitions are “Pickling and Marinating” and “Year of the Tiger”. In addition to exhibitions, the museum also holds lectures and seminars to let people know about traditional life and culture.
Free admission. The volunteers are attentive and top-notch.Written 1 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Taipei City Mall is divided into a few sections; M, R, K, Y and Z zones. We only managed to sweep Y zones because of the Japanese anime, games and lots of gachapon and claw machines. If you are not a fan of any of above, there are still some clothes, jewelries, souvenirs, bags shops along the way.Written 26 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia12,154 contributionsTaipei's riverside bikeway will take you around the city. The eco-tour takes in four rivers -- Tamshui, Keelung, Shindian and Jingmei. If you follow the route, it's a 111 km (70 mile) trip. Apart from being re-connected to nature, the are many historical features that are worth viewing. The route is quite pleasant, the riverine ecology is much better tan it once was.Written 22 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ianwyjSingapore, Singapore5,074 contributionsTaipei's centrally-located main bus and train station is surrounded by a number of interconnected malls. Q Square Mall is one such mall, and we found it blessed with a range of tempting shopping options. But more intriguing for us were the range of restaurants/eateries (we counted at least twenty different outlets) spread over four floors, so much so that we ended up going back a number of times during our relatively short stay in the city.Written 12 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - George APhoenix, AZ206 contributionsThis walled space across from the Bao'An Temple and the Confucius temple complex is well worth a stroll when you visit these other two sites. Inside the gates, there are about 4-5 little areas, each centered around a pond and landscaped with tranquil scenes: some have sculptures of miniature buildings, some have animal statues. The biggest pond has a giant dragon spewing water out, with a colourful mural behind it. Kids will love it to explore around the nooks, grottoes, and rocks. There are also areas where you can sit down and have a little bit of a picnic.Written 3 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelbugVietnamVietnam1,667 contributionsI had originally visited Yongle in December, but as it was a Sunday it was closed. This time I wanted a table runner made exactly the same as one I have on my dining table and had faded. I found a woman who sewed and she called a young man who turned out to be her son and spoke really good English. I showed them both the old runner and the mother suggested a particular fabric seller on the floor below. Sean, the son came with me and acted as interpreter. I couldn't believe it when I found the exact same fabric as the old runner which I had bought ready made in Shanghai years ago. We all consulted on yardage and the trimmings then we took it back to the mother to sew. I said I would pick it up a few days later. Sean offered to deliver it to my hotel and it arrived and looked perfect along with the old runner and the left over fabric. They had even included a little gift for me in the shape of a coin purse on a key ring. I loved this market and my new table runner. It was so convenient having the fabrics and the sewing people all in the one building. So if you want something copied or cushion covers or anything else you are sure to find it at Yongle marketWritten 18 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Linda KPort Saint Lucie, FL2,358 contributionsJust outside the subway station of the same name, this traditional market sells a bit of everything -- fresh produce and fruits, meats, fish, eggs and prepared foods. Try to avoid the scooters driving through the market and for a respite, duck into the Wenchang Temple for a bit of quiet. For a special treat, be sure to grab a Taiwanese Burrito from the vendor across the street to the south of the temple -- the best NT$35 you'll spend all day.Written 5 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia12,154 contributionsThe East Gate ("Dong Men") is in a significant area of Taipei, near the Presidential Offices and other significant buildings and roadways.
